Hubbard ad highlights connections to Smith, Obama
Jake Wagman
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Rodney Hubbard’s push to earn enough money to appear on the air seems to have worked: the State Senate hopeful hit the small screen last night, even though filing in his race has not closed yet.

Hubbard’s commercial was shown in the city several times on CNN and MSNBC during last night’s primary election coverage.

The 30-second spot seeks to show Hubbard reaching across racial and partisan lines, a smart move if Hubbard, a Carr Square resident, wants to branch out to parts of the district that are beyond his base. (a.ka. Tom Villa territory.)

“No matter where they’re from,” Hubbard tells us, “people want the same things.”

The spot shows Hubbard standing next to State Sen. Jeff Smith, and highlights Hubbard’s support of his “friend” Barack Obama.
