UPDATED: McCain headed back to St. Louis for fundraiser; Democrats announce it

The fundraising arm for Republican presidential nominee John McCain has confirmed that the candidate will be in St. Louis County next Monday for a fundraiser.

We’re still waiting for his campaign to reply to a phone call. Political Fix found out about the event from a somewhat stinging release that the Missouri Democratic Party just sent out.

“According to his campaign Web site, Republican Presidential nominee John McCain will be at the St. Louis Frontenac Hilton at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 10, to raise funds to further his effort to give President’s Bush failed domestic and foreign policies a third term,” the release said.

“McCain, a former self-described maverick, today stood in the White House Rose Garden to officially receive President Bush’s endorsement in hopes of cozying up to the right wing of the Republican Party…” said Missouri Democratic Party spokesman Jack Cardetti.

The McCain campaign’s list of cohosts for the event include:

Honorary Event Chairs:

“Governor and Mrs. Matt Blunt
“The Honorable and Mrs. Kit Bond
“The Honorable and Mrs. John C. Danforth

Event Chairs include:
Mr. and Mrs. August A. Busch, III
The Honorable and Mrs. Steven Brauer
Mr. and Mrs. David Farr
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Fox
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Oliver
Mr. Roy Pfautch
Mr. and Mrs. Andy Taylor
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Walsh

Here’s the state GOP’s reply to the Democrats:

“John McCain has united Republicans across this country and in Missouri because he has the experience, judgment and character to lead, while Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are both fighting to raise our taxes, socialize medicine and abandon the war on terror,” Missouri GOP spokesman Paul Sloca said.

It looks a little like the Democratic party of Missouri are a bunch of sore losers..They need to grow up and realize the inevitable…John McCain is here to stay and the American people wish to have as their President a person of caracter rather a person of dubious abilities and loaded with baggage..The American people have already had their fill of Bill Clinton and Obamma has so many questions following him around about his loyalty to his country, his faith and his thousands of promises that he hasn’t the slightest idea on how to fulfil them…It will be President McCain…

I am not surprised at his first stop. The people of St. Louis and St. Louis County are always ready to receive a war monger. Funny thing though they (REPUbicans) do/did not like having their children in the military during times of conflict.

At one time I had respect for two and only two republicans McCain and Danforth. Each one has turned out to be a mirror image of Bush and a huge disappointment to me. Too bad it is St. Louis who gets the premier visit. One would think it has enough problems.

Dan,

I find your comment interesting. Do you have evidence to support your claim about Republicans not like having their children in the military during times of war? I’ll use just a small sample size of 2 people I know in Missouri that are Republicans. Their sons have bravely fought over in Iraq so you can make comments like those. Im sure they have spent nights awake wondering if their sons and the rest of the soldiers will make it home. These two men are Senator Kit Bond and Congressman Todd Akin.

Oh, one more thing. Perhaps you havent heard of Jimmy McCain, he too is serving in Iraq. His father, you might have heard of him, is John McCain. And yes that is the same John McCain that will be the Republican Nominee for the President of the United States.

I think it is a bit over the top for Jack Cardetti to critisize McCain for taking an endorsement from the president, which is a member of his own party. The statement made by Cardetti is nothing more than the crazy left wing interpratations we all see on a daily basis.

Well, Matt — it may be over the top, but it’s all Cardetti’s got!!

This is rather amusing actually. The Democrat party is incredibly secretive (just ask Jo) about their fundraisers, but issue a press release about an RNC fundraiser. What losers!
