Andria Simckes, one of the Democrats running for state treasurer, will address supporters, would-be supporters and those simply interested in meeting her on Monday at the Creve Coeur home of Barbara and Doron Berger.

The event is from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Simckes is emphasizing her experience in state and regional government. She worked for Gov. Mel Carnahan, the state Department of Economic Development and as the executive director of the St. Louis Regional Empowerment Zone.  She is a member of Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel (BSKI) and B’nai Amoona.

Andria Danine Simckes is the classic tailor made candidate for MO State Treasurer. Her legal and financial education and experience is stellar. And making her an even more appealing candidate to me, when she attended Brown University (on scholarship) she helped co-found an organization uniting women of color called Brown Sisters United. At Washington University Law School she served as the Treasurer of the Black Law Student Ass. She’s been the Director of the StL Regional Empowerment Zone and the Comptroller of the 1996 Cordinated campaign for Missouri. Simckes was a Gov Mel Carnahan discovery and remember the Late Great Gov Mel Carnahan was our MO State Treasurer before he was our governor and then elected Senator. She’s a mom (4 kids I think) and married to the OB doctor who delivered my grandkids. I’m a fan obviously.

This is the time for the Missouri Democratic Party to STEP TO THE PLATE and support a well qualified candidate. With Barack Obama at the head of the ticket Ms. Simckes will be a welcome addition and will further add to the diversity at top levels of government both locally and nationally. The Party needs to support Ms. Simckes in her efforts and continue to promote her candidacy and not just behind closed doors.

Come on Andrea. You can do this!

I found it ironic that when Steelman was running unopposed Temporiti recruited her and told her that the party was supporting her. Now that the seat is open they have abandoned her. Talk about taking African Americans for granted.

She doesn’t stand a chance…Money, African/American and Jewish…it is politically correct, but not what Missouri is ready for. She’ll finish dead last in the race…even behind Wheeler.

Andria is a good candidate and may even when the nomination, but she has been missing in action for 10 years and the party owes her nothing. Zweifel has been fighting for all Democrats during that time and has the best chance of winning in November.
