Natty tax collector: Cufflinks — always

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

In advance of St. Louis Fashion Week, the folks at the PubDef blog interviewed one of the most sartorially-gifted men at City Hall: Tax collector Gregory F.X. Daly.

The well-coiffed Daly is rarely seen outside a suit and tie. If he was ever spotted with a shirt untucked, it might pass for an outright scandal.

Daly, wearing a striped tie and a blue Savile Row, told PubDef the secret of his natty attire: Cuff links.

“Always wear cuff links,” Daly said. It “adds a little class to the entire outfit — can’t imagine wearing a suit without cuff links.”

In that case, Daly may want to go hunting in the drawers of his former boss, Mayor Francis Slay, who, if memory serves, has made civic pride part of his fashion statement, wearing links that resemble the Arch.

How refreshing to finally see comments about what a male politician is wearing!

Cuff links are nice. Not only natty, but they give you another thing you can pawn when events require as such.

I could have done without the image presented by the phrase “Daly is rarely seen outside a suit and tie” though.
