Street dedication will honor fallen officer
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The city will dedicate a north St. Louis street in honor of a young police officer killed while patrolling the neighborhood.
Margaretta Avenue at Union Boulevard will be officially re-named Officer Norvelle T. Brown Avenue in a ceremony on April 7. The street is near the police department’s north patrol headquarters, where the rookie officer reported to in his brief time with the department.
Alderman Jeffrey Boyd, whose ward includes the area, sponsored the measure creating the street designation. Brown, 22, was felled while working alone in an alley near Sherman Park on Aug. 15. A teenage gunman has been charged with his murder.
