The politics of baseball

With it being Opening Day and all, or at least Opening Rain Delay, I thought I’d mix politics with baseball. That’s what USA Today did last fall when they compared the political donations of various baseball owners. As you can see, both the Cardinals and Rockies lean to the Republican side, at least based on last fall’s contributions. And neither team knows how to pick a winner, with Dick Monfort of the Rockies and William DeWitt Jr., of the Cardinals both weighing in on the side of former Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

The news-leader is a sad and pathetic place since you left. Can’t find the news, can’t use the new forums, Convoy of Hope has spammed the news-leader’s extremely limited blog list. It’s a mess. :(

jan, you are right; the news leader misses Tony and we hope he returns there soon…Tony, great call here in St. Louis on opening day, remind those looking for a positive baseball experience of the negative political aspect of the game and the fact that the owners backed a loser.

What a shock that those billionaire Cardinal owners are backing Republicans!
