Twin bill: Hubbard, Nasheed vie for credit
Jake Wagman
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Yesterday afternoon, State House Democrats sent out a release on behalf of Rep. Jamilah Nasheed, taking credit for securing $900,00 to fund a program in St. Louis that helps former prison inmates adjust to life outside.

“I’m ecstatic that my recent appointment to the Budget Committee has put me in a position to secure funding for this vital program,” Nasheed said.

But just about 90 minutes after Nasheed’s release was sent out, came another missive from Rep. Rodney Hubbard’s campaign.

He, too, was taking credit for funding the prisoner re-entry program.

“This is a program that works. It’s good for St. Louis and it’s good for Missouri,” Hubbard said.

So who should get the credit?

Let’s go to the tape.

The Hubbard campaign has video of yesterday’s Budget Committee hearing, which shows Committee Chair Alan Icet praising Hubbard - as well as Nasheed.

Sounds like a draw.

It’s a tie? Both Hubbard and Nasheed are credited
