According to the staff of U.S. Rep. Todd Akin, R-Town and Country, the congressman will be joining President George W. Bush on Air Force One as he flies into St. Louis on Friday.

Akin, by the way, has been a big supporter of the president’s policies, including the war in Iraq. One of Akin’s sons is in the Marines and has served in Iraq.

U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof, R-Columbia, will already be in Missouri campaigning for governor, a spokesman said. Because he has a full schedule of events already planned, Hulshof won’t be able to join the president while he’s in town, the campaign said.

UPDATE: Bush won’t attend or headline any fundraisers while in town, a state GOP spokeswoman said. The president often does do some fundraising for his party’s candidates during his travels.

Akin is a big-wig now. Todd you have my vote! And all of my families, co-workers, relatives, neighbors, church members, associations I belong to–that could total 2,500 votes alone.

All of West County and many of Lincoln County I have been speaking with and have votes promised for Todd- You’re our Man!

Loved your newsletter sent out to all of West County residents and your poll is so thoughtful and shows that you really care about your constituents.

You’ll win hands down, Todd!

Todd will probably win hands down, but not because he deserves it. He will win because the 2nd Congressional District has thousands of voters like the idiot Tara. Voters who’d rather not waste their time thinking through the issues, but would rather just keep voting for Todd because Todd is on a first name basis not only with George Bush, but God also. Voters who pay not attention to how Todd is voting in DC, but only believe what Todd tells them. That he votes the Lord’s will all the time and every time.

He’s been a supporter of every one of Bush’s failed policies. Just the other night he called me for a constituent town hall meeting. I hung up when he started talking about healthcare savings accounts and more choices for people in spending their healthcare dollars. What country (planet) is this guy from? No wonder he’s catching ride on Air Force One. Have you seen gas prices lately? If the price keeps going up, I may have to dip into my healthcare savings to keep driving.

While Mr. Akin is not perfect, I somehow fail to see why supporting policies that have given us lower taxes, record federal revenues, lower unemployment than during the Clinton years, and (despite the last year and a half) the highest percentage of homeownership in American history is all that bad.

As for his support of the war… Well, when the leftists on this page have voted to send their son to war and visited Iraq on three separate occasions, I’ll begin to give their “opinion” some weight. Until then, I’ll trust the man who has put his flesh and blood where his principles are and actually seen what is going on in Iraq first hand.

As for gas prices… Why don’t you ask Speaker Pelosi about her promise to lower gas prices? Since she became speaker we’ve seen a more than 50 percent increase at the pump… Maybe drilling in a small part of ANWR wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Of course, when your a multi-millionaire from San Francisco fueling up your SUV at $3.99/gallon isn’t all that big a deal to you.

Todd, way to go on championing American energy independence!!! We are all sick and tired of paying big bucks at the pump and your proposal to drill in ANWR is welcome news. To all the liberals out there, yes, if we do run some pipes in that area, your precious moose’s mating patterns MIGHT be affected. And probably not one real American could give a rat’s behind. God bless you Todd.
