Animal advocate’s heroics are well-timed

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

As if rescuing a puppy weren’t enough, it seems animal champion Randy Grim also has a knack for timing.

Over at the mother ship, reporter Carolyn Tuft has a story about Grimm - a veteran critter advocate in the St. Louis area - recovering a young dog from an abandoned East St. Louis home this week.

The puppy’s mother and litter-mates, however, were not as lucky, the apparent victims of some macabre animal abuse.

While Grim waits for a family to adopt the surviving puppy - now named Milagro, Spanish for miracle - he’ll claim something of his own.

Even before this week’s heroics, Grim was scheduled to receive a resolution tomorrow at City Hall from Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed for his “tireless dedication to the protection of animals.”

I’m sure there will be lots of ap-paws.

Randy and his organization are angels. I wish people would spay or neuter their pets. It is the single most important thing we can do to stop animal abuse.

And the second most is support my congressional campaign, one of the principle tenets of which, as all my other state or federal campaigns, has been to end the animal abuse of factory farming! An atrocity on god, people and, of course, animals. As you may know, except in two states, I believe, all state and federal animal abuse statutes exclude farm animals. Shame shame!
