Ashcroft endorses Cunningham’s State Senate bid

State Rep. Jane Cunninghams bid for State Senate has scored the endorsement of one of Missouri’s most well-known Republicans: John Ashcroft.

Ashcroft, a former everything - U.S. Attorney General, state attorney general, state auditor, governor, U.S. Senator - said in a statement released by the Cunningham campaign that “Jane has my enthusiastic support.”

“I wholeheartedly endorse Jane Cunningham for the Missouri State Senate,” Ashcroft said. “I have known Jane, and her husband Gary, for thirty years.”

Ashcroft, according to the release, will headline a June campaign event for Cunningham.

A former Ladue School Board member, Cunningham, 61, is running for the seat held by State Sen. John Loudon. She’ll face two Republicans in the primary: Loudon’s wife, Gina, and State Rep. Neal St. Onge.

I wouldn’t count St.Onge out… And Gina with her funding from the adult industry, and with John changing his votes to get some more strippers who knows what could happen. Larry Flint could drop 100,000 one dollar bills into her lap

Maybe he can sing a song there. That would be a huge hit!

John Ashcroft’s enthusiastic pushing of the “war on drugs” included sending federal agents to shut down medical marijuana operations that were in compliance with state laws. And this war has continued since Ashcroft’s departure, with Missouri’s draconian laws providing for up to 7 years in prison for the offense of “growing your own” less than 5 grams. I haven’t seen pot since college, but back then, 5 grams would have cost about twenty bucks. An endorsement by Ashcroft, who seems bent on pushing his Assembly of God moral doctrine on everyone by means of government power, is enough for me to vote for somebody else.

Nick you said the same thing last week for Cunningham kicking the PROMO kids out… Rep. Oxford then appologized to Cunningham (with class for her press conference and not hearing both sides of the story). Get off the bashing already. We know your not voting for Cunningham so don’t act like this changed you mind. I don’t like any of them personally but can’t stand when people find a new reason so say “This is why I’m not voting for them” every day.

Here go ahead and read up on smarmy Gina and her morals

Rednun,
President Hillary had the thing wrapped up on Super Tuesday, too.

tRush, think before you post. I didn’t say “the same thing” last week. Why would I have brought up Ashcroft when he hadn’t yet been involved here? So Loudon got a contribution from a lobbyist for the strip clubs … big deal. Legislators get money from all over the place. For example, here’s a couple of questions about Cunningham’s latest disclosure:

* Why did Cunningham receive over $28,000 from eight different Republican campaign committees in St. Charles? This is more than half her contributions during this period. Will Cunningham be doing the bidding of St. Charles county at the expense of her own district?

* Why did Cunningham receive $2,600 from associates of real estate development law firm Stone, Leyton, and Gershman, and $3,375 in contributions from associates of Drury hotels? Will Cunningham be doing the bidding of developers at the expense of her own constituents?

Nick read the whole sentance before you post. My comment, “Nick you said the same thing last week for Cunningham kicking the PROMO kids out” clearly refers to the fact that your little weekly
“vote for somebody else” thing gets old.

*Why did Loudon recieve $5000 from St.Joseph, $5000 from Ava Mo, $5000 from St.Charles, $5000 from Farmington? Will Cunningham be doing the bidding of St. Charles county and outstate at the expense of her own district? haha

*Why did Gina recieve 3,375 in contributions from associates of Drury hotels? Or over 3500 form Home Builders and developers including Vantage and McBride and Sons? Will Cunningham be doing the bidding of developers at the expense of her own constituents?

When Bush announced his endorsement of McCain, Bush said he wouldn’t endorse him if McCain thought his support would hurt him…..

Truth don’t feel bad, Nick spouts random unintelligible statements all the time. Nick should have taken the time to look at Gina’s donors though considering you are right they are a lot in the same. Thats what’s so tough is Gina and Jane’s politics are very close together maybe Nick would agree with that, I don’t know.

Gotta get used to those Ron Paul folks ya know.

I just realized Nick may not understand my play on his statements… so I reworded so he can follow along easier. The fact is politicians get money from all over… It goes through committees and thats all that there is to it.

Why DID Loudon recieve $5000 from St.Joseph, $5000 from Ava Mo, $5000 from St.Charles, $5000 from Farmington? Will Loudon be doing the bidding of St. Charles county and outstate at the expense of her own district?

The campaign contributions?
Jane and Gina’s do look much alike.
Politicians of all stripes raise money from all over the place.
What’s the news?

That whole “porn money” story looks like such a spin -
what Republican finds Fired Up Missouri an accurate, credible source?
So, she took a check from someone who lobbies for all sorts of things.
Who’s to say it had anything to do with any kind of political favor? Most politicians will accept a check from most people who offer to write them one.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with political favors or less ethical standards of the politician. Who’s to say that this lobbyist isn’t an old high school friend of Gina’s? Or the niece of John’s godmother?
Who knows why she wanted to write Gina a check?

I think anyone who knows John and Gina Loudon knows that they have fought the porn industry as hard as any legislator in the Capitol building and they will know that there is more to this story than Fired Up Missouri would report.

I can’t believe Republicans would even read firedup, much less believe it. Surely they see through the democratic spin? To take advice from firedup is even more stupid than knocking on your democratic neighbor’s door and asking them who you should vote for!

There is absolutely NOTHING to the Loudon story. No one has a stronger stand on the issue in question. I wouldn’t be so quick to count Dr. Loudon out of this race.

Ewwww, this gives me the willies!

Is Ashcroft so disconnected from local politics now that he is clueless that “Sweet Crazy Queen Jane” is a bull in a china shop? Her bomb-dropping methods demonstrate the indisputable truth that she is completely lacking the political savvy it takes to make it in the Senate.

Surely the voters of the 7th are smarter than Ashcroft. This is the last safely Republican seat in St. Louis County. It is vital that we have a representative who will not only to introduce good legislation for us, but be perspicacious enough to actually get it passed.

Jane is so far removed from that description, it would be funny if it weren’t so scary. Both she and her legislative assistant Lucy admitted to my face, in her office, that her sponsorship of a bill angers the assembly, and can contribute to the legislation being killed.

Why on earth would I want this lunatic as my representative??? She may be right on when it comes to the issues, but woefully inept when it comes to doing anything about them.

Gina is THE BEST qualified!!! She has being in a senators office for EIGHT YEARS! She know how the senate runs (that means she the best choice if you want someone that knows whats going on )

9:50 pm April 20th, 2008

WOW GINA’S BEEN IN A SENATORS OFFICE FOR 8 YEARS?!?! I WONDER WHICH ONE IT WAS? I’m so glad she lounged in her husbands office for eight years instead of doing somthing productive like I don’t know…. raising her family?

I’m in my dads office quite often does that mean I know how to drive an 18 wheeler? Should Brett Farve’s wife start for Green Bay?

GO HOME GINA HAVE YOUR FAMILY GET REAL JOBS

Will all due respect, your comparisons are illogical. Both professions you refer to require a component of physical skill. I would offer that if you had a PhD and spent 8 years in your father’s trucking office that you would be more than qualified to run the business side of it on your own.

And, by the way, she was doing exactly what you suggest she should have - raising her family, right there in her husband’s office. You obviously don’t know her. Gina is brilliant and talented, but one thing she surely doesn’t know how to do is “lounge.”
