Blunt to run again — in St. Louis marathon
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Shaking off the jet lag from his trip overseas, Gov. Matt Blunt announced this week that he’s ready to go the distance again in the St. Louis Marathon.
As reported earlier in our Jog Blog, Blunt and his staff, for the second year in a row, will participate in the marathon’s relay competition, where four runners divide up the 26. 2 mile route.
In addition to the governor, the “Running With Blunt” team includes:
- John Russell, deputy chief of staff
- Rich Chrismer, communications director
- Mary Craven, an aide to Melanie Blunt
Last year, we’re told, the governor’s team finished with a time of 3:29:32, giving them a pace of just under eight-minute miles.

Team Blunt at last year’s marathon

sorry never heard from you, Ann; I understand; your offer must have been made in a moment of irrational exuberance; I’ll presume it was sincere; I’ll try to keep my commitments when elected, irrational, exuberant, or otherwise.
Bill- Did you run in the marathon? When did you finish? Were you able to get any supporters?
since Ann never responded, slept in, needed my sleep
went 14 in park, 6 with running honey, last 8 with running Sweetie;
slightly under 12 per mile; long way from 9’s two years ago, but not bad for 63 year old guy who couldnt walk without a limp wednesday;
longest since injury, less than 6 months ago, back running less than 4;
or as I say, not bad for fat old guy with no talent, bad attitude and shabby training;
and not looking for other supports for my running;
Ann offered $1000 for any congressional candidate running in marathon like Blunt, I accepted, Ann got abducted by aliens; dont expect her to contribute as she said at this point, and tho I dont think I had legal or moral challenge to uphold my end under the circumstances, but welcomed the challenge anyhow, and try to keep my commitments;
people will support me, and I want their support, not because I hanging in there with my running and swimming ok for 63, but because will make them proud as a congressman, and because of my stands on health care, peace in iraq, middle-class tax cuts, loans for college, parents off work with pay to visit their kids and school, a safe and secure peace in the mideast, and like that;
so this is on 3d page now, and no one paying attention, or interested, including me;
welcome to write me at campaign email if want to chat further, Sandy, and thanks for your interest and support;
best, Bill
