Blunt’s team finishes third in St. Louis marathon
Gov. Matt Blunt’s squad took third place in Sunday’s St. Louis marathon, besting more than three dozen other teams in the corporate coed relay category.
Blunt ran with two senior staffers - communications director Rich Chrismer and Deputy Chief of Staff John Russell - and Mary Craven, an aide to First Lady Melanie Blunt.
The team finished the 26.2 mile course in 3 hours and 30 minutes - putting them at just about eight-minute miles.
Finishing first was a team of top-seeded runners from Monsanto, followed by a flock of swift legal eagles at the law firm of Lewis, Rice and Fingersh.
But the “Running with Blunt” team did finish faster than 46 others, including groups from the Brewery, Ameren and Centene, as well as a crew calling itself “Anything but Last,” which came in five places ahead of its goal.
This is the second marathon for Team Blunt, which proved they are, if nothing else, consistent - in 2007, the governor’s runners finished with a time of 3 hours and 29 minutes, just seconds better than their pace Sunday.
In 2007, however, that was good enough for second place.

8 people in relay? 8 in pic; each runs 3+ not 6.55? two different relays? you only mention 4; what up?
