Blunt’s team finishes third in St. Louis marathon

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Gov. Matt Blunt’s squad took third place in Sunday’s St. Louis marathon, besting more than three dozen other teams in the corporate coed relay category.

Blunt ran with two senior staffers - communications director Rich Chrismer and Deputy Chief of Staff John Russell - and Mary Craven, an aide to First Lady Melanie Blunt.

The team finished the 26.2 mile course in 3 hours and 30 minutes - putting them at just about eight-minute miles.

Finishing first was a team of top-seeded runners from Monsanto, followed by a flock of swift legal eagles at the law firm of Lewis, Rice and Fingersh.

But the “Running with Blunt” team did finish faster than 46 others, including groups from the Brewery, Ameren and Centene, as well as a crew calling itself “Anything but Last,” which came in five places ahead of its goal.

This is the second marathon for Team Blunt, which proved they are, if nothing else, consistent - in 2007, the governor’s runners finished with a time of 3 hours and 29 minutes, just seconds better than their pace Sunday.

In 2007, however, that was good enough for second place.

8 people in relay? 8 in pic; each runs 3+ not 6.55? two different relays? you only mention 4; what up?

Ahah! and if there were two relays, was Blunt really one of the fastest 4, or did they put him on the A relay anyhow replacing someone faster from the B relay; are splits available? look and see; would that be right?! inquiring minds want to know. and what about last year? same thing?
just a thought, but maybe an interesting one. should he give up his medal to someone from the B team, if I’m right?

Hmmm. If Team Blunt finished came in third, then there must have been a team of reporters or investigators hot on their trail in fourth place.

Bill, that’s a stock photo from last year, when the Governor’s office entered two teams in the relay. This year there was only one team. Plus, if Jake was covering the race I’m sure it was waaay to early in the morning for him to wake up and take a new photo.

First: Bill? Another cup of coffee?

bill and shecky: It’s a race! Fun… remember fun? Get a grip, while at the same time remember this when you don’t think I’m fair to one of your guys (or in the case of Bill… not fair to YOU)

Jake: great job as always!

Yes, tsquare, it’s a race. Team Blunt didn’t save a fleet of drowning sailors. They ran in a race, so lighten up yourself and have a chuckle.

Can’t we even get an accurate, current picture of the race participants?

Why didn’t Melanie run?

When I look at the smiling faces in the photo above, I can’t help but think about the crippled children who’s medicaid cuts eliminated monthly pediatrician visits since 2005….
The race is over. Missouri’s crippled children lost.

ok, dont understand most of the posts, probably including my own, but the question still is, did last year he bounce a faster runner from the B team? results and splits still online?
I think that’s an integrity issue if true, baby gov or not.
someone look it up, please;
do I have to do everything around here? I guess that would be a rhetorical question, the answer to which would seem to be yes?
