Bush host generous to both sides of the aisle
David Steward may be opening up his business to the commander-in-chief, but, when it comes to opening up his checkbook, Steward does not play favorites.
On Friday, President George W. Bush will visit Steward’s company, World Wide Technology, touring the Maryland Heights headquarters and delivering a speech on the economy.
Though the stop was not easy to arrange - it was originally planned for October, but was bumped by Bush’s trip to see wildfire damage in California - Steward is proof that you don’t have to be a loyal GOP donor to earn a visit from the president.
But it apparently doesn’t hurt to give big to both parties.
Campaign finance records show that Steward has donated more than $65,000 to federal candidates in the last 10 years, giving somewhat equally to both Democrats and Republicans.
Steward has been a supporter of Barack Obama since his 2004 Senate campaign, but he’s also donated the maximum to former Republican presidential contenders Tommy Thompson and Mitt Romney, as well as the presumptive nominee, John McCain.
He did donate $2,000 to Bush’s re-election bid - but not before contributing to Al Gore and a Democratic victory fund in 2000.

OF course it doesn’t hurt, both parties practice pay to play in the Washington arena, then wonder why people don’t care for politics.
