City treasurer endorses Harris for AG
St. Louis Treasurer Larry Williams, one of the city’s longest-serving officials, has jumped into the Democratic Party’s nastiest contest in the state — for attorney general.
This morning, the campaign of state Rep. Jeff Harris, D-Columbia, announced that Williams had endorsed Harris. Two other high-profile Democrats are in the contest: state Rep. Margaret Donnelly of Richmond Heights and state Sen. Chris Koster of Harrisonville.
Said Williams in Harris’ release: “As a life-long Democrat, I can tell you that Jeff Harris is the real Democrat that can win in November. Jeff Harris has emerged as a true leader for our party. He proved that when he was the Democratic leader in the Missouri House — standing up for the working families in this State in opposition to Matt Blunt and the Republican agenda. Missouri needs Jeff Harris and will be well-served by Jeff Harris when he becomes Attorney General.”
Sai Harris: “I intend to tap into Larry’s expertise in city government and will seek his guidance throughout my campaign for Attorney General.”

Pretty good endorsement for Harris. Williams is pretty well liked and ought to be able to help him make more inroads in the city.
