First down: Olivo finally votes

Mark another career first for former Mizzou football star Brock Olivo: He finally voted.

The tailback turned Republican Congressional contender drew scrutiny for his previous record at the ballot box, which was nil.

This week, Olivo ended that streak, making his first trip to the voting precinct.

It wasn’t a super primary or presidential election, but it was a start - Tuesday’s municipal election in Hermann, Mo.

“It was exciting - I went with my mom and we voted together,” Olivo said. “It was a great feeling.”

Olivo was speaking by phone from Washington D.C., where he was courting the advice of two previous college football standouts who successfully made the transition to Capitol Hill: Steve Largent and J.C. Watts, both former congressman from Oklahoma.

Olivo: Now, a voter

This guy’s really a bonehead. A Congressional candidate votes for the first time in his life, and it’s a media event? The real story here is that he has the audacity to think the voters of the district are dumb enough to vote for a guy who has shown no interest in public affairs for his entire life.

Fortunately, the voters of the 9th district have a better choice. Bob Onder has a lifelong interest in public affairs. Bob is an allergist, with his medical degree from Wash U. He also has a law degree from St. Louis University. He has served in the Missouri House of Representatives. And with six young children, it’s no wonder he wants to get out of town!

You don’t send somebody to the Super Bowl a few months after the first time they throw a football. If you did, he’d be certain to fumble on every play. So let Olivo play in the minor leagues where he belongs, and send Onder to Washington.

Blaine Luetkemeyer is the logical choice for 9th Congressional District Congressman. His vast experience in agriculture, banking, insurance, the Missouri Legislature and as the Director of Tourism for the State of Missouri gives him the experience necessary to represent us in a professional manner. He can begin work immediately because he understands the legislative process and knows the needs of the 9th Disrict.
It’s Luetkemeyer for me and my family!

Since most of the 9th District is in rural and agriculture areas, Blaine Luetkemeyer is my choice for Congressman. He has the experience of rural life but his banking and insurance experience has had him dealing with urban issues also. His tenure as Tourism Director has had him traveling the state from Branson in the south to St. Louis in the east and Kansas City in the west. In my opinion, this gives him the well rounded experience to make a great congressman who will represent ALL of the district in a very professional manner.

Something tells me Jake was bullied by football players in college because he is on this story like a pitbull on a bone.

That said, Olivo is a dunce.

Maybe someone should tell Brock “Olivio” (in case you missed it…look for his first FEC filing where he spelled his own name wrong) that he’s running for a seat in the United States Congress, not Homecoming King.

When I look at the headlines and see that our country is at war, gas prices are skyrocketing and the cost of healthcare is astonishing - forgive me if I have nothing but contempt for a 31 year old man who appears to be stuck in his college glory days and thinks this is some kind of popularity contest.

Let’s hope that our overgrown college boy will “take the football helmet off for a minute” and put on a big boy’s thinking cap. Then perhaps he will see just how ridiculous he looks. But then again, social studies class never taught anyone how to be cognizant of their own idiocy.

Word of the day Brock: cognizant.

Is he recounting his first day of kindergarten?

“And, I’m 5 years old today and proud and Mommy held my hand as we crossed the busy street”

Where’s my foooot ball?

Daddy? Will you tuck me in tonight?

Sherman, I concur. The only problem: these people have no guts to do such a thing and most likely they’re complete failures in life. And miserably envious individuals. Thank god they’re not public figures…but then again, there’s a reason for that. Failures.
