“Iron Eagle” to get key to the city
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Guess who’s parachuting into St. Louis this weekend?
Actor Lou Gossett Jr. — start of the Iron Eagle franchise who won an Oscar for his role in An Officer and a Gentleman– will receive a lifetime achievement award from the St. Louis Argus newspaper on Saturday.
Mayor Francis Slay will also fete Gossett with a key to the city.
For some of Gossett’s best work, check out the underrated Diggstown, a story about a small town and a big fight. In the pantheon of boxing movies, it’s in the category just below Rocky and On the Waterfront.
