Koster: $1 M man, smokes rivals

State Sen. Chris Koster’s political credentials may still prompt debate, but there’s no question that he’s bringing in the bucks.

Koster, D-Harrisonville, reported today that he had $1,011,453.89 in the bank (and a $200,000 loan). Even with the latter taken into account, Koster outpaced his rivals in both parties.

Here’s the tallies (money raised is entire total, and not just for the period):

State Sen. President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons, R-Kirkwood: Raised $828,998.50, spent $367,926.50, $440,321.26 in the bank.

State Rep. Margaret Donnelly, D-Richmond Heights: Raised $753,832.40 ($164,003 since Jan. 1), spent $154,315.35, $631,441.42 on hand.

Rep. Jeff Harris, D-Columbia: Raised $609,943 ($162,339 since Jan. 1), spent $250,416.08, $460,120.12 in the bank.

Koster: Raised $1,989,647.14 ($610,385 since Jan. 1), spent $782,438.21, $1,011,453.89 on hand. Debts: $200,000.

Good analysis there Jo, did you stop to take a look at the $225,000 from in-kind contributions? What about the $530,000 from political committees? Doesn’t that spell out lack of support among regular Missourians?

I bet when someone does the analysis Koster turns out to have the fewest contributions from regular people, not PACs. There’s more to this report than a total figure alone accounts for…

Chris Koster is NOT a Democrat.

We thought there was some discrepancy as well; here’s the link to our report which documents Koster’s funneling of donations refunded last year through legislative committees this year.

In total, we found 90 percent of Koster’s funds were from political committees this quarter and at least $225,000 was funneled through committees from Koster’s past donors.

Wow!!! It is rare that the headline under states what has occured, but in this case it has. Koster kicked Gibbons, Harris and Donnelly. Maybe if they run as a team they will have a chance.

Koster is a great Democrat and has great support from great Democratic organizations, including.

Fraternal Order of Police
Missouri Deputy Sheriff’s Association
Missouri State Council of Firefighters
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters
Greater Kansas City Building and Construction Trades Council
Springfield Building and Construction Trades Council
Carpenters District Council of Greater Kansas City and Vicinity
Greater Kansas City AFL_CIO
St. Joseph Building and Construction Trades Council
Joplin Building and Construction Trades Council and
SEIU Local 2000

That support sounds like a REAL Democrat to me. Koster has the most experience, the most support statewide and the most money raised.

Nick, et al:

I only had time to post the bare numbers. There’s a bit more detail in my story tomorrow. And we’ll be doing some probing shortly, of all the candidates.

Thanks for your interest.

Chris Koster is not a Democrat. He has continuously brought Republican tactics into this Democratic primary. Hope his corporate buddies that donated all the money to him will not see retribution when he loses the primary. Consider this: Money does not equal votes. Ask Mitt Romney, a guy that is actually like Chris Koster in a lot of ways.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch and the President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Jimmy Hoffa Jr. believe Koster is the BEST Democrat in the race for Attorney General.

Both have endorsed Koster, both feel he is a REAL Democrat and the best candidate in the race.- why do you think that is?

Oh, yeah, Koster has the most experience, the most statewide support and has raised the most money - I bet that is why they support Koster over Harris and Donnelly.

Forgive me, but I will take Mr. McCulloch’s and Mr. Hoffa’s word for Koster’s outstanding credentials.

Jo, is this line the “bit more detail” you are referring to?: “About two-thirds of Koster’s contributions since Jan. 1 came from various political committees, who can donate more than individuals.” That’s it?

The blog story posted from MPN above and a post on the Turner Report show that Koster’s campaign is deliberately and flagrantly skirting Missouri’s campaign finance laws. Not a single mention of this yesterday from the AP or any major newspaper in the state. It’s time for some serious probing of Koster’s contributors and fundraising tactics.

Hit the road Jack!

Koster is the imposter that is skirting the fundraising edge like his political mentor and his old boss the REPUBLICAN BILL WEBSTER!

Another REPUBLICAN running for the top law enforcement job in the State and making a mockery of it!
