Koster: $1 M man, smokes rivals

State Sen. Chris Koster’s political credentials may still prompt debate, but there’s no question that he’s bringing in the bucks.

Koster, D-Harrisonville, reported today that he had $1,011,453.89 in the bank (and a $200,000 loan). Even with the latter taken into account, Koster outpaced his rivals in both parties.

Here’s the tallies (money raised is entire total, and not just for the period):

State Sen. President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons, R-Kirkwood: Raised $828,998.50, spent $367,926.50, $440,321.26 in the bank.

State Rep. Margaret Donnelly, D-Richmond Heights: Raised $753,832.40 ($164,003 since Jan. 1), spent $154,315.35, $631,441.42 on hand.

Rep. Jeff Harris, D-Columbia: Raised $609,943 ($162,339 since Jan. 1), spent $250,416.08, $460,120.12 in the bank.

Koster: Raised $1,989,647.14 ($610,385 since Jan. 1), spent $782,438.21, $1,011,453.89 on hand. Debts: $200,000.

is anyone tired of that same post from Jack popping blog after blog. Could the Koster campaign get a little more creative and a little harder work ethic? You are not fooling anyone by using your endorsement to try to spell out real support. I want to see Chris Koster in the same room with both Donnelly and Harris but this has not happened. Why is that? Is he afraid to talk about the issues with the democrats in the race that have a proven democratic record. I encourage Koster to start talking to the press himself and to start going to the same places as the other two candidates.

I heard that there is an AG democratic primary debate at Truman State on April 24th and I hope that I can see Chris Koster there. I would hope that he does not continue to back away from having to answer to his record, because that will not win this campaign.

Seems like a whole lot of crying. Kinda sounds like a bunch a pre-schoolers when they lose a game. Never thier fault, never what they did wrong. Harris/Donnelly supporters - grow up. Your candidate got kicked.

And let me tell you why (because I am nice like that). Your candidate has NOTHING going for he/she. I do not see ONE posting of why Harris or Donnelly is more qualified. NOT ONE! I NEVER SEE ONE!! Its all about Koster. It is all negative. Its all a bunch of crying about “he just became a democrat”. Its all about “what he did was not fair”. (Then followed by a bunch of personel attacks) YOU ARE ALL A BUNCH OF CRY BABIES!!!!

Here is an idea, write about only your guy or girl - do not even mention Koster. Only talk about thier accomplishments. You can not do it. Koster has been a public servant since he graduated law school. He has been an elected official in Ike Skelton’s district for the last 14 years. Koster has the most experience and is the best candidate. That is why he has the most endorsements and has raised the most money. That is why Bob McCulloch and Jimmy Hoffa support him and not Harris or Donnelly.

Sorry Jack let me correct you on one point (the others don’t even merit responses). Koster has the most money because he’s willing to skirt campaign finance laws - whether with voucher backer Rex Sinquefield or millionaire James Stowers - and give his campaign personal loans. That’s a pure and simple fact.

Yet again, no comment on why your candidate is qualified. Attack, attack, attack. Nice strategy.

Attorney General Jay Nixon took $635,851 in cash and in-kind contributions beyond the $1,375 limit from these party committees. That’s the most out of the three gubernatorial candidates and all candidates in the state.

Any minute all of the Harris/Donnelly MUST start going after Nixon for raising money in the exact same way as Koster.

Wait, I forgot, they are acting like Koster is doing something illegal when they know it is something that is PERFECTLY LEGAL and something Jeff Harris\’ former boss (Jay Nixon) is also doing.

I posted this comment on Jason Rosenbaum’s blog and I apologize to all readers of that blog who also come here for the duplication:

Jack,

Is it the sun or the peaches down there in Georgia that have affected your perception of what’s going on up here in Missouri? Maybe if you were in Missouri on the ground instead of 600 miles away in Atlanta you would have a better idea of what real Missourians think about the candidates. Clearly Jeff Harris and Margaret Donnelly both have a lot of support from the average Missourian. Koster on the other hand, relies on James Stowers and Rex Sinquefield’s money that gets funneled through PACs. The reality here is clear and your baseless argument would be laughable if you weren’t so darn serious. It’s only a matter of time before Koster’s few supporters realize they are about as common as water down in your state.
