Kurt Warner catches key to Jeff City

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Rams Super Bowl hero Kurt Warner has another addition to his trophy case: the key to Jefferson City.

Jefferson City Mayor John Landwehr bestowed the memento on the former MVP quarterback this afternoon. Warner is in the capital today for an event sponsored by the Vitae Caring Foundation, an anti-abortion group that has shown a knack for attracting big names - former presidential contender Mike Huckabee will keynote a fundraiser for the group next month in St. Louis.

Vitae Caring is sort of the in-house production company for the state’s anti-abortion effort, distributing commercials that seek to present an alternative to abortion. The group is a natural fit for Warner, a born-again Christian who also campaigned against the stem-cell measure in 2006.

As mayor of Missouri’s political center, Landwehr does not openly affiliate himself with either the Democratic or Republican party. That’s the same approach he takes when asked if being in the middle of the state makes him a fan of the Rams or the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Well, um, lets just say no comment,” Landwehr said. “We’re the capital city for the entire state. I am a fan of both.”

Amazing how Kurt Warner is still one of the best in the NFL, and still respected and admired here in Missouri. What a shame that the organization pulled on over and told everyone that he was washed up . . . . . Kurt is a hero.

Agreed . . . .First Warner, then Proehl, then Conwell, then Faulk, then Bruce. Dumping Kurt was the beginning of the end for this team. Imagine if Kurt had stayed in StL! We would still have a team and a shot!

Uh fellas, with all due respect, Johnny Unitas couldn’t make our current team a winner. It is really, really hard to throw passes laying on your back.

#2, All named are aging players, Faulk was hurt, Proehl was old, Conwell hurt and old, and Bruce is old and lost effectiveness. Anyone over 35 in the NFL is a dinosaur and you won’t win many games with a team full of dinosaurs.

There is no doubt Kurt Warner is a HERO! After seeing him in Jeff City on Thursday, he is a true hero not only as a football player, but more importantly, as a father of seven and defender of human life. For those out there who have never heard of the Vitae Caring Foundation, the group Kurt Warner supports, Vitae is a nation-wide organization (not just Missouri) which has mounted the largest TV media campaign in the U.S. focused on reducing abortion numbers and encouraging respect for life.

Warner was tight, better than Leinart, better than Eli Manning, better than Marc Bulger, to mee he\’s one of the best a victim of politics. Did Elway,Favre,Montana,Esaison,Moon,Kelly,Gannon, and a whole lot of other Quarterbacks ever throw for 41 td\’s in a Season nope only 3 (Marino 48, P.Manning 51, Warner 41 oh yeah and Brady 52) The top four better than Brett Favre, yes better than Brett Favre, if Warner was in the Packs he would\’ve won 4 SuperBowls, don\’t tell me that all these sucka as Qb\’s are better than Warner, who Hasselback,Garrard,Rothlisberger,McNaab,Palmer, and a whole lot of other Qb\’s out there that don\’t play like Warner, Warner got Screwed, Vermeil should have stayed with the Rams, damn I hate Mike Martz.
