Olivo scores first endorsement: Griesheimer

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The Congressional bid of former Mizzou football star Brock Olivo landed its first political endorsement this week: State Sen. John Griesheimer.

Is it a major endorsement?

I don’t think so - Olivo has far more name recognition than Grieshemier. But, like most endorsements, it helps the campaign build momentum and, perhaps more important for Olivo, gives him some insider credibility.

The knock on Olivo has been, of course, that he is an ex-jock who, before deciding to run for office, took a lax approach to his democratic duties. Of course, there are others who say that Olivo’s work ethic - he was a special teams star in college that made the NFL as an undrafted free agent - transcends the gridiron.

Griesheimer, who represents parts of St. Louis, Franklin and Warren Counties, falls into that latter camp.

“Brock’s campaign is going to be a great one to watch and be involved in,” Griesheimer said. “It’s time that we had some fresh blood come to the political arena.”

Actually, Jake,

You missed an earlier endorsement of Olivo. It was Bozo the Clown.

Jake - I think that should have been a lax approach to his “democratic duties” … since he is running as a Republican, I would hope he didn’t have Democratic duties.

Made the change. Thanks for the catch, Nick…

So Olivo is endorsed by a moderate Republican. I guess that means he thinks that by being a moderate he can win the primary?

You are giving Brock-O way too much credit. Does he know what moderate means? Pretty sure it doesn’t apply to Griesheimer in the first place.

As to Brock - you could be right.

As to Griesheimer - he is a moderate, no question.

Since when does a lax resume, along with a lax record of voting, qualify someone for a seat in Congress?

To the best of my knowledge he has NEVER held elective office, unless he was President of his dorm at Mizzou! Never served any time in the Missouri House or Senate, as a local alderman or mayor, let alone dog catcher.

Isn’t this a great country? Unqualified and underqualified individuals may run for any public office including the U.S. Congress!

He should run for State Rep or County Commissioner first.

NOt A CHANCE of winning. Sad but the democats had to put up with Mike Evans not once but twice as a candidate who was unelectable as well as not legally qualified.(10 yrs consecutively in state). Then maybe his dad (Roy Evans) is a supporter of the O man’s campaign as Roy Evans is a Republican and so far his son can’t get elected anything and with ethics violations maybe they can show O the way off the Ballot faster. POLITICS IS A BLOOD SPORT NOT FOOTBALL Oyou can’t fool the voters they don’t care for football they want Leadership, jobs, Healthcare etc etc.
