Rod Jetton’s greatest hits

I feel bad that after not talking about the village law for several months, Speaker of the House Rod Jetton finally granted me an interview and I wasn’t able to include many of his quotes in my piece on the village law that ran on the mother ship today.

Jetton had quite a bit to say, most of it in reference to fellow Republican Dennis Wood, of Kimberling City. Here are the highlights:

“There was no attempt on my part to hide anything.”

“I’m telling you that what Dennis is saying is absolutely false.”

“He (Wood) got mad at me this year when I didn’t make him tourism chair over B.J. Marsh.”

“If you really wanted to fix it (the village law), youwouldn’t say something against the speaker.”

“If you really wanted to fix it, why go to the press and make the speaker mad?”

“Dennis doesn’t want to fix it, I don’t think. It’s about him being a martyr.”

“Never underestimate how somebody will hurt you a lot if it helps them just a little bit. I think that’s what Dennis Wood has done here.”

Oh, and why did Jetton not speak about the village law brouhaha for so long, a decision he now says he regrets?

“I didn’t want to be seen fighting with a fellow Republican” in the press.

Apparently, Jetton doesn’t see it that way anymore. One final note. Jetton denies having anything to do with creating the village law. Asked about two media reports that have indicated he has fessed up over his role, this is what Jetton says:

“They reported it that way, but that’s not what my comments were.”

Read more of Jetton’s comments on the matter here.

Hey, suzyjax, Bill Hannegan wants to know whether those burning pants are smoking.

Jetton’s been the “joke of the House” since the day he came on the scene. Thankfully, his days of harming Missourians are numbered.

Nick,
Bill made a statement that he completely backs Jetton’s right to have his pants on fire whether here or in Jeff City. In addition, he rebuked Cancer Society, as well as Carlo Collodi, reports warning of lies–even second-hand lies–leading to nose growth.

I’m tired of hearing about the village law shenanigans especially when NO ONE has explained what the actual impact has been. It seems like more of a vendetta tale of Mr. Messenger’s against Mr. Jetton and I am surprised if anyone can’t see through Mr. Messenger’s obvious bias.

My recollection of a few years ago was that Jetton punished Scott Lipke by not giving him a chair when he alleged Lipke made a change to a bill without announcing it to the leadership. My recollection was that Lipke removed something that was illegal and unconstitutional that Jetton wanted in the bill for symbolic reasons. It appears to me that what Jetton did with the village law was exactly what he was crucifying Lipke for two years ago. What says Jetton?

How many idiots does it take to realize that the so called Village Law amendment was in the bill from the version the committee passed out through the TAFP of the bill?

That means it was in the bill for well over a month. Something that is in the bill for that long, that went through 3 passages cannot called “sneaked in”

wake up. Dennis Wood sold out the speaker when he was confronted by his own voters. He didn’t want to admit he never read the bill and didn’t either care or didn’t want to do anything about it. He is a coward. Wonder if his 30 pieces of silver were worth it
