Sunday stroll into Open Comment territory
It’s a sunny Sunday afternoon. I beseech all readers to go outside for some rays.
But for those junkies who need a little dose of politics, here it is: Once again, it’s Sunday, and that means – Open Comment Time.
What’s on your mind? What issue or event are we overlooking? Which candidate has you thrilled or up in arms?
Whatever. Post it now.
Just abide by the rules — be civil, at least somewhat concise, and please keep your topics or comments focused on local or regional matters (or the local or regional angle of a national issue.)
So vent!
But don’t forget to go outside. It’s beautiful out there!

Last month I went to a fundraisr at the Missouri Athletic Club for a state house candidate named Don Calloway. I was truly impressed. Don was smart, extremely articulate, personable, and deep thinking. Also, he had a diverse collection of powerful faces in the place. This is the kind of person we need more of seeking office across the state. I’m not in the 71st district, so I can’t vote for him, but i would encourage anyone to check him out and folllow his career. I think that we may have something special here. http://www.doncalloway.com
That too Penelope. Does anyone have an answer to these questions?
Penelope, this is a very simple thing: What you do on your vacation is YOUR business, not your employer’s. You can spend your vacation climbing Mt. Everest, laying on a beach, drinking yourself into a stupor, working as a missionary, working at a strip bar, whatever … it is your vacation. If you’re a political junky and choose to spend it working on a campaign, that’s ok too.
Lest you misunderstand, I’m not a Steelman supporter, I’m supporting Hulshoff. But that doesn’t mean any scurrilous accusation you can cook up about Steelman carries water. You’re just plain wrong on this one.
Edward “Chip” Robertson
Anyone here know the name?
Small wonder as he is a lawyer, a supporter of Jay Nixon, and while he is under investigation the Post won’t tell you about him.
Jo?
Good call, tsquare. The Columbia Tribune had this a week ago, the Post has ignored it: State Farm has accused Robertson and three other attorneys of “substantial misconduct” in regard to accessing of company confidential databases. And it isn’t as though the Post doesn’t know how to get in touch with Robertson - he was cited as a source in an unrelated Post story a few weeks earlier.

tsquare - I’m Googling! Jo and Tony - Penelope got her answer, what about elected official Montee? You can’t just go after Republicans day in and day out and never properly vetting Democrat candidates.
To Centrist: There’s no law barring elected state officials from getting involved in politics, state time or not.
That said: Montee says she does her politicking for Obama on weekends.
Hope that helps. (I’m off today, so not doing much blogging.)
Who is the REAL Penelope ? Hmmmmmmmmm……………
Why is Doug Gaston an issue? The real issue this week is Rod Jetton killing judge selection legislation. Oh yeah, I forgot, he’s a “consultant”. Just the same as he is a “consultant” for Rep. Bob Onder who has had more bills come to floor since hiring Jetton, than in the rest of Jetton’s clients, like Jason Crowell. Don’t fear for Jetton, even if the FBI comes a knockin’ on the door . . . he’s probably on a fishing trip with his other “client, friend, donor, or whatever,” Mr. Plaster.
Truthseeker, the only speaker in recent memory to have the feds come knocking was Democratic Speaker Bob Griffin.
And on the subject of high ranking Democrats under criminal indictment … the docket on Missouri case 07CO-CR00725, State vs. Jeff R. Smith, indicates that there is to be a motion hearing at 2:30 this afternoon. May I trust the Post will be ignoring this, since it’s a Democrat that is under indictment?
