Two senior staffers leaving Blunt’s office

Jodi Stefanick, architect of the 2005 Medicaid cuts, is leaving the governor’s staff effective April 11.

Also departing this month: Mary Beth Luna Wolf. She has been Blunt’s senior policy adviser on education and the director of his St. Louis office.

Stefanick plans to move to Boston to be closer to her family. The move has been planned since last summer, said Nanci Gonder, a spokeswoman for Gov. Matt Blunt.

Asked whether Stefanick has lined up a new job, Gonder said: “I think she’s considering all her options.” Gonder said Stefanick was unavailable for comment.

A former legislator from St. Louis County, Stefanick handled the bill that rolled back eligiblity for the state and federal health care program for the poor. At the time, she said the changes would ensure that the system survived for the truly needy.

She left the House in late 2005 to become Blunt’s senior policy adviser for health care. In that role, she led efforts to craft a new health program focusing on prevention.

Gonder said Blunt did not plan to replace Stefanick. “I think her duties will be divided up among other policy people,” Gonder said.

Wolf also will depart in mid-April, said Gonder, who was unsure whether Wolf had another job.

Does this strike anyone else as odd to leave abruptly in the middle of a legislative session when there are major health care and education issues before the legislature?

What struck me is the move out of state. And to a liberal bastion like Massachusetts. Seems like the last place she’d want to move.

She will probably be working on Romney’s VP bid. Then Romney will make shure Blunt gets an appointment job a dolt can do. FEMA maybe?

What’s the deal with all these people up and leaving Blunt’s office?

I think an audit is in order!

BEST of Luck to Ms Stefanick! She did a great job and she is a very bright young woman. She is moving to Boston because she has family there!

GOOD LUCK JODI!

I hope Ms. Stefanik spends time getting a personality. I had the dubious honor of speaking with her while she was a legislator. The cruel cuts she proposed and got in Medicaid were completely in keeping with her personality. I’ll donate a nickel, that’ll probably do for a vast improvement.

I just saw a picture in one of the stories on STLTODAY with Mccain laughing and having a great time with Mitt Romney…. I’m feeling good about this prediction. As long as he can keep his foot out of his mouth.

Of course Guiliani did have the one state strategy. You cant tell me he was really planning to win with that strategy. Pick a VP - - I’m already bored with the bio-tour.
