Blunt lauds House vote for death penalty for some rapists

In a statement just issued, Gov. Matt Blunt ”commended the House for adding the death penalty as an appropriate form of punishment for a criminal convicted of child rape to Senate Bill 976.”

“ ‘Child predators attack the innocent and defenseless, and the pain they inflict is permanent, in many cases physically and in all cases emotionally,” Blunt said in a statement. “We have a responsibility to do everything within our power to protect our children from violent sexual predators. The worst crimes deserve the most serious punishments. Those who commit violent sex crimes against children are the worst criminals. They victimize the innocent and defenseless, and they deserve the death penalty.”

Child Abuse Sexual or otherwise should receive the most severe of punishments. Abuse of the elderly mentally or physically challenged should also get the this punishment. For once, I agree with Blunt somebody help!

Why not castrate and put them away for life?

Whenever I come across a case where a child is raped, the first thing that runs through my mind is the person who raped the child should be dead (killed). But, shortly after that thought, I realize that it is not my place or any man on this earth’s place to decide who deserves death or life. I know that this is just that fleshly part of me operating that will never completely leave me until I die and hopefully rise again.

Then I repent for being so foolish in thinking that I am worthy of making calls that only God has the right to.

My question, why the change of heart for Blunt, because when the Jessica Law was up for vote, he and most of the other Republicans refused to allow the version of the bill with tougher sentences to pass, but now he wants to kill them? I don’t get it, what is the motive behind his madness now? Could someone please enlighten me?
