Border patrol looking for more good men — and women — in St. Charles
The U.S. Border Patrol has announced that national recruiters will be sent out next week for “an intensive two-day recruiting event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, and Wednesday, June 4, at the Saint Charles Convention Center..”
“The Border Patrol is searching for qualified men and women in Missouri to join their ranks in U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the largest law enforcement agency in the country…,” the patrol said in a release.
How is this political? The choice of St. Charles for the search offers some interesting questions, since St. Charles County has been a hotbed of anti-illegal immigration talk. The city of O’Fallon also was the site of an illegal immigration raid a year or two ago.
As all political activists know, St. Charles County also is considered a key GOP base of support on Election Day. Typically, the county provides one of the largest blocs of Republican votes in the state.
Republicans, as a rule, rank illegal immigration as bigger concern than their Democratic counterparts.

Flip. Flop. Flip.
McCain — 2006: “Our nation’s immigration system is broken. And without comprehensive immigration reform, our nation’s security will remain vulnerable. That is why we must act.”
McCain — Nov 2007: “I understand why you would call it a, quote, shift,” McCain told reporters Saturday … “I say it is a lesson learned about what the American people’s priorities are. And their priority is to secure the borders.”
McCain — May 24, 2008: “[W]e must enact comprehensive immigration reform. We must make it a top agenda item.” McCain went on to take an anti-deportation position on immigrants already in the U.S. who entered the country illegally, saying “they are also God’s children, and we have to do it in a human and compassionate fashion.”
