Missouri allies cite bellwether status to help Obama in Indiana

State Sen. Jeff Smith, D-St. Louis, says he’s spent 3-4 hours a day lately making calls into Indiana on behalf of his choice for president, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

Smith, who’d called yours truly on another matter, said his key message in those campaign calls to Indiana Democrats is that “if they’re concerned about his electability, Barack beat Hillary (Clinton) in Missouri and there’s no better bellwether in this country.”

Smith acknowledged that the controversy over Obama’s former Chicago pastor, Jeremiah Wright, “was on some people’s minds.”

But Smith added that he believed other issues — the war in Iraq and the economy — will play a greater role at the polls.

As soon as we hear from local Clinton supporters engaging in similar get-out-the-vote efforts, we’ll post it.

Today, as everyone knows, could be D-day for either Democrat, depending on what happens in North Carolina and Indiana.

By the way, as an Indiana native, I personally know of a number of Republicans in that state who are taking Democratic ballots today.  All of the ones I know are voting for Clinton.

Why do you think that is Jo? Could it be Operation Chaos?

Si Vis Paramecium:

Those are just Republicans who have finally wised up to the farce that is the GOP.

Since of course, we know they can’t possibly be unprincipled voters. Republicans would ever do anything to tamper with democracy. Everyone knows it’s just poor black folks and union thugs who mess with elections.

shecky, were you as upset at dems and independents who crossed over to vote for McCain?

Uh, was there an organized campaign by a widely known radio personality to get Dems and independents to vote for McCain? Unless you count Ann Coulter’s anti-endorsement, I don’t think there was…

On a more important note, Senator Smith continues to drag out his defense in his “casino caper.” At the moment, it is scheduled for a jury trial on July 10. Obviously, Smith will be looking for some “jury nullification” here. Of course, as a legislator, seems to me like he ought not behave as though he was above the law. Or is there some other conclusion one could reach by this conduct?

Hey, Nickoff, the thread was about Smith making calls for Obama. I’d understand if you went off on another facist racist right wing neocon Brown Shirt weblog echochambering yobbo yap here BUT, try staying relevant and to the facts.

One could reach the conclusion that since you only snipe about Obama and don’t mention Slick Johnny Mc’s pas de deux with anti-Catholic bigot Pastor John Hagee, you agree with McCain and Hagee on the Catholic Church being the “Whore of Babylon,” the “anti christ,” and a “false cult system.”

Hey, Timmee Poo, the thread wasn’t about McCain, it was about Jeff Smith and Obama. And if you’re too slow to see the difference between the endorsement of a stranger, and attending a church for decades, being married by the pastor, and donating large sums of money, you need to get off the computer and go back to snacking on lead paint chips.

To Si Vis…: Republicans who I personally know in Indiana tell me that they are voting D today for Clinton because:
A) consider her preferable to Obama,
B) Consider him “unpatriotic,” as one put it.

I’m sure other Republicans have other reasons, and that not all are voting for Clinton.

The Indianapolis Star quoted some who cast D votes today as saying:
A) Didn’t like McCain, preferred O or C
B) Supported McCain, but wanted the Obama-Clinton fight to continue.

Early exit poll results indicate that 10 percent of the D votes cast in Indiana came from self-identified Repubs.

MY FELLOW “BITTER”, STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-)

If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of “BITTER”!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-(

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary’s than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)

Best regards

jacksmith… Working Class :-)

p.s. You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you don’t know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering…

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don’t die from. And I could go on, and on…

OBAMA AIDE: “WORKING-CLASS VOTERS NOT KEY FOR DEMOCRATS” :o

No matter how you want to gift wrap it, any Republican who is voting in this primary for either Democrat, if they are not voting Democrat in the General election, it is unethical no matter how one lie to themselves and choose to defend and rationalize it.

Sad that everything in this country have become just one big deceptive game. Sometimes it causes one to just want to say, and even sometimes actually say, to HELL with this country.

Oh, and some of you think Rev. Wright was out of line? No, just a human being with a big heart, who is also a servant of God.

Sad that there are so many people with such sick and corrupted hearts that do not even recognize just how sick that they are.

Who out there cannot see how sick and corrupt it is to attempt to muniplate our democratic processes? Who is so sick to justify this? Oh, there are many, aren’t there?

And yes, Jo Mannies,

Operation Chaos is in play here, even though you dare not recognize the obvious.

D-, is it also “unethical” for dems to cross over and vote for McCain as they did in the early primary states?

Yeah, I know, trick question, dems have no ethics.

nick, the only important note regarding Senator Smith that should concern you is the fact that you should be in touch with your nearest mental health facility to see if they can give you some help in getting over your moronic fixation about his court case, which to most of us, was a one time mistake that he apologized for immediately after it happened. And by the way, he has proven to be by far the most effective St. Louis area state senator in getting things done not only for the people he represents but also for the entire community and its children.

Si,

Why are you behaving like a child? It goes without saying and is obvious that it would be wrong and unethical for anyone to munipulate the democratic process. There isn’t anything that points to such a thing taking place concerning McCain with Democrats voting for him in the early primary states. Sorry, but the Republicans just did not have any viable candidates that pleased Conservatives, still do not with McCain.
