Mo GOP targeting 300 pro-Ron Paul at Monday ‘credentials meeting’
According to an email from some Missouri supporters of Ron Paul, sent late Sunday night, the state Republican Party has scheduled a special “credentials meeting” for 10 a.m. Monday at the Blue Armory in Jefferson City.
At the meeting, according to the email, about 300 of the 1,900 elected delegates to the state GOP convention May 30-June 1 must disprove allegations that — presumably — accuse the targeted delegates of not being bona fide Republicans and/or not committed to supporting John McCain for president.
“The state Central Committee spent approximately $1,000 on certified mailings that do not even state the allegations,” said the email sent from one challenged delegate. “A small group of insiders in the Missouri Republican Party are attempting to prevent delegates, properly elected at their county caucuses, from attending the state Convention in Branson…
“Although many have repeatedly attempted to find out the basis of the challenges, these 300-plus delegates have been left in the dark and forced to travel great distances, some well over 100 miles, to finally learn the charges against them. Challenged delegates will be limited to a mere five minutes to respond to the charges with no time to prepare.”
Those challenged include “current Republican Committee members, members of the Missouri Republican Assembly, current Republican candidates, and attendees of previous conventions, with the only common factor being that they voted for Republican Congressman Ron Paul during the primary.”
Here’s a few examples cited in the email:
–Laura Mize: “As a 78-year-old long-time Republican voter and the daughter of a lifetime staunch Republican from Southeast Missouri, I voted for the only man that represents the principles of the Republican Party as taught by my father and now they want to throw me away like an old newspaper. Well, they have started a fire instead! I’m so angry, I will show up even if I have to be carried on a stretcher!”
– Eric Vought, Republican Committeeman from Springfield: “Having just worked to sell tickets for one fundraiser and putting together a donation for their silent auction, it disturbs me that they are spending $3.60 per certified letter, times a few hundred delegates to challenge all of these people. Why should I bother raising money for them if this is how they choose to spend it?”
– Tom Klein of St. Louis County: “I thought we were the ‘party of the open door’ as resolved in the National Party Rules. Well, now that door is being slammed in my face! I know the vast majority of us Republicans are very good people but you know what they say… All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”
The Paul supporters assert that similar actions are happening elsewhere.
“Across the nation, including Oklahoma, Nevada and Texas, the time and location of conventions have been changed at the last minute and party insiders have attempted to sneak in ‘delegates’ to inflate their numbers who were never elected at their local caucuses.“
“Others have walked out with crucial documents belonging to the convention, convention Chairmen have run roughshod over the rules of order by refusing to recognize delegates not from their faction, and some have simply walked out shutting off the lights to the convention hall as they did in Nevada.”
“Because of growing concern over honesty and integrity in government, a new group is being founded, Statesmen for our Constitutional Republic, to educate voters about the inner workings of our political mechanisms, encourage and teach people to be active leaders in our government, the Republican Party, and, especially, our communities. …”
A co-founder of the group, Curtis Abbott of Springfield, Mo., says, “”It is a sad day when much of the public believes that their involvement no longer matters because ‘the insiders’ have already decided who is going to win and those most involved suppress their own conscience to support the lesser of two evils. “We are setting up monthly caucuses where the real issues will be discussed, we are going to the high schools and colleges to raise up the next generation of Statesmen, and we are pledging ourselves to high ideals of principle, conduct, and courage. What we do matters greatly; how we do it matters every bit as much. We mustn’t merely know what is right: we must have the courage to do it.”

PETRIFIED ABOUT PAUL
While they are confident they can deal with any “potential president,” the Trilateralists paid huge tribute to Ron Paul in an equally large twist of irony, by expressing alarm that he is causing “significant future damage.” They expressed concern that Paul’s rallies have attracted multitudes of young people who are getting “their political education.” They want Republicans to pressure Paul to drop out now and stop his education rallies. This assignment was given to Thomas Foley, former U.S. House speaker.
The reasons Paul’s “education campaign” strikes fear into Trilateral hearts are obvious. Paul would refuse to surrender an ounce of U.S. sovereignty to an international organization and TC wants world government.
Paul would immediately bring U.S. troops home from Iraq, Afghanistan and from 130 UN “peacekeeping” missions around the globe. TC wants to enjoy war profiteering and global power. Paul would abolish the federal income tax while the TC wants to pile on a global tax payable to the UN.
The formal agenda was loaded with everything Paul and American patriots detest: higher taxes, more foreign giveaways, more immigration, both legal and illegal, into the United States and “engaging Iran,” among others.

I liked the Ron Paul campaign even if I didnt agree with all their/his issues, and even tho I am a good Democrat, but as my website, runbillrun.com or billhaasforcongress.com says, “Not Your Usual Democrat”. I wrote the District 2 Ron Paul rep asking if they consider meeting me to see what we may have in common, as I doubt they support Akin, but they never got back to me. Too busy fighting the power strangle hold of the Republican party. Maybe eventually they’ll have a chance to dialogue with me after their convention. I have a feeling that after my election, I’ll be dealing with Democratic party leadership from time to time, myself. Like if they dont pass comprehensive farm reform to be able to promote answers to world hunger and other agricultural related issues endemic to farm subsidy reform.

Hear hear! I ‘donated’ my summer housing investments (I’m Canadian) to the Ron Paul campaign…the donors could have paid me, or they could show their donation slips…The nonsense has got to end.
Why don’t the Ron People people tell you the reason they want to be delegates. They want to go to the convention change the rule on “winner take all “so they can vote for RP at the National Convention. What about the over 5 milliion people that voted in the Missouri primary, how can anyone think it is fair to change the rules after the vote. Ron Paul got just over 4% of the votes. It is kind of like the child that keeps asking the same question hoping to get a different answer.
OK Paul supporters, lighten up. There have only been one or two cases, don’t blow this out of proportion lest they do have reason to pull us all out. Remember, Missouri is a winner-take-all State, you are required by the rules, because McCain had over 50% of the vote to vote for him in the first go around. We need to go there with the purpose of winning hearts and minds for the national convention. We are not going there to cause chaos. There are many non-Republicans and so called ‘anarchist’ groups that have inflitrated our ranks trying to cause problems. Don’t fall for their spin. Represent what Dr. Paul stands for. Follow the rules and win hearts and minds.
I am writing in Ron Paul for President. I’m voting for him no matter what!
PaulGuy - were you listening? Over 200 delegates belonging to Ron Paul meetup groups were challenged. One or two who support other candidates were caught in the middle of it. Two-thirds of Missourians voted AGAINST McCain. I was at the so-called “hearing”. These people were railroaded, were not able to be represented, were accused falsely of things they had never heard of, and grilled and mercilessly interrogated, all AGAINST their own rules.
I’ll never give another dime or another minute of my time to this worthless Party after watching what happened to these people.
Really, Espresso? Are you sure THAT is the reason, even though there is no longer any mathematical possibility that Ron Paul can win the Republican nomination? Maybe, just maybe they want to go to the state convention because they have much invested in the Republican party and are horrified at what they are seeing as it has become something they can no longer recognize. Maybe they have something to say about that and they are rightfully resentful that their voices are not being allowed to be heard. Being elected as delegates is how people traditionally have gotten their voices heard.
Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that “there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between” Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like “America Deceived’ from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.
Write in Dr. Ron Paul and save this great nation.
