Mo GOP targeting 300 pro-Ron Paul at Monday ‘credentials meeting’

According to an email from some Missouri supporters of Ron Paul, sent late Sunday night, the state Republican Party has scheduled a special “credentials meeting” for 10 a.m. Monday at the  Blue Armory in Jefferson City.

At the meeting, according to the email, about 300 of the 1,900 elected delegates to the state GOP convention May 30-June 1 must disprove allegations that — presumably — accuse the targeted delegates of not being bona fide Republicans and/or not committed to supporting John McCain for president.

“The state Central Committee spent approximately $1,000 on certified mailings that do not even state the allegations,” said the email sent from one challenged delegate. “A small group of insiders in the Missouri Republican Party are attempting to prevent delegates, properly elected at their county caucuses, from attending the state Convention in Branson…

“Although many have repeatedly attempted to find out the basis of the challenges, these 300-plus delegates have been left in the dark and forced to travel great distances, some well over 100 miles, to finally learn the charges against them. Challenged delegates will be limited to a mere five minutes to respond to the charges with no time to prepare.”

Those challenged include “current Republican Committee members, members of  the Missouri Republican Assembly, current Republican candidates, and attendees of previous conventions, with the only common factor being that they voted for Republican Congressman Ron Paul during the primary.”

Here’s a few examples cited in the email:

Laura Mize: “As a 78-year-old long-time Republican voter and the daughter of a lifetime staunch Republican from Southeast Missouri, I voted for the only man that represents the principles of the Republican Party as taught by my father and now they want to throw me away like an old newspaper.  Well, they have started a fire instead!  I’m so angry, I will show up even if I have to be carried on a stretcher!”

Eric Vought, Republican Committeeman from Springfield: “Having just worked to sell tickets for one fundraiser and putting together a donation for their silent auction, it disturbs me that they are spending $3.60 per certified letter, times a few hundred delegates to challenge all of these people. Why should I bother raising money for them if this is how they choose to spend it?”

Tom Klein of St. Louis County:  “I thought we were the ‘party of the open door’ as resolved in the National Party Rules. Well, now that door is being slammed in my face!  I know the vast majority of us Republicans are very good people but you know what they say… All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

The Paul supporters assert that similar actions are happening elsewhere.

“Across the nation, including Oklahoma, Nevada and Texas, the time and location of conventions have been changed at the last minute and party insiders have attempted to sneak in ‘delegates’ to inflate their numbers who were never elected at their local caucuses.“

“Others have walked out with crucial documents belonging to the convention, convention Chairmen have run roughshod over the rules of order by refusing to recognize delegates not from their faction, and some have simply walked out shutting off the lights to the convention hall as they did in Nevada.”

“Because of growing concern over honesty and integrity in government, a new group is being founded, Statesmen for our Constitutional Republic, to educate voters about the inner workings of our political mechanisms, encourage and teach people to be active leaders in our government, the Republican Party, and, especially, our communities. …”

A co-founder of the group, Curtis Abbott of Springfield, Mo., says, “”It is a sad day when much of the public believes that their  involvement no longer matters because ‘the insiders’ have already decided who is going to win and those most involved suppress their own conscience to support the lesser of two evils. “We are setting up monthly caucuses where the real issues will be discussed, we are going to the high schools and colleges to raise up the next generation of Statesmen, and we are pledging ourselves to high ideals of principle, conduct, and courage. What we do matters greatly; how we do it matters every bit as much.  We mustn’t merely know what is right: we must have the courage to do it.”

I’ve heard several people say that they will not vote because the outcome is already predetermined. I became an independant due to the fact that I want to vote for whom I believe is the right candidate not because of the party that they belong to. I don’t want to have to vote for the lesser of the two evils. I want to vote for the candidate that I believe is right. The way that the Democrats and majority of Republicans are acting why should we vote for them and their own personal agendas. I am a Ron Paul supporter and will be voting for him even if he does not get the support of the Republican Party. Ron Paul is the candidate that I choose with my freedom to be able to choose. What happened in Nevada I believe is a disgrace to this country and the people. Maybe they should get rid of all the delegates hoop la and go with a popular vote and actually trust the people to be able to elect the president that would best represent them. I think the system is actually showing how flawed it is when a party’s agenda is more important than what the people want!

This election has confirmed what I was starting to believe. I was always skeptical of Alex Jones but now I know he is right about the elites running the world. I will still be writing in Ron Paul of course.

Real Republican wrote, “But the votes of the little people do count…and Missouri elected John McCain in the Presidential Preference primary. It is the vote of the people that the party is trying to protect not the followers of a candidate who couldn’t garner 5% of the vote. It is funny how the losers always yell about voter fraud when their candidate doesn’t win”.

Yes, I agree that McCain is the MO Preferential Primary winner. I’ll even discount arguments on this thread that electronics made it happen. So, answer me this: why after I and many others signed a pledge at the MO 2nd CD to support the preferential winner, and verbally answered in the affirmative to the question of supporting the preferential winner at the Jefferson City armory, are we still contested to Branson?

The answer, I feel, is because we enhanced the St. Charles County caucus platform with planks we strongly believe in. I’ll assert that MO GOP officials don’t like the planks introduced, passed, and forwarded to the state convention. It has nothing to do with Ron Paul. If he were dead tomorrow, would GOP officials and the media continue to mischaracterize people as “Ron Paul supporters”. No, it’s about the concepts, not the man. It’s about the lack of debate about principles in this national contest. This thread, and others on various web forums spend far too much thought energy discussing men, and far too little on the real issues. The purpose, in my estimation, of forming a Conservative Values slate in St. Charles county was to attempt to force public debate about real issues within the Republican party as it concerns the nation. Judging from the myopic and narrow scope of the public debate I’ve witnessed so far concerning men since the St. Charles caucus, I’d say we’ve failed miserably. In this sense, I conclude that the “dumbing down of America” has taken firm hold.

You can imagine the next salvo aimed at folks, based on some other trumped-up innuendo. No, it’s about the concepts, not the man. It’s about the lack of debate about principles in this national contest. This thread, and others on various web forums spend far too much thought energy discussing men, and far too little on the real issues. You people, all of you, are as disingenuous as the Democrats.

In this sense, I conclude that the “dumbing down of America” has taken firm hold. Is there anyone out there that wants to debate whether the Federal Reserve bank is a viable institution? Is there anyone out there that wants to debate whether Missouri farmers should be forced by the U.S. government to put RFID’s in their livestock? Is there anyone out there that wants to debate whether Missouri casinos should be forced to lower the amount of money a gambler can lose every two hours? Is there anyone out there that wants to debate whether the money you work for every day should be based solely on a promise to pay or a real tangible asset that protects your family from inflation? My conclusion so far is you should all be ashamed of yourselves. By talking about nonsensical topics as I’ve witnessed, you might as well be talking about American Idol. But I have hope still you’ll all reach your senses and begin polite conversation about what really matters.

This is a good article. I wish more of the media were exposing this kind of shenanigans by the GOP establishment. But given their longstanding efforts to shut alternative party candidates out of debates and keep alternative parties off ballots entirely, this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.

If we do not manage to get Ron Paul as the GOP nominee, I encourage everyone to look at the Libertarian Party (http://www.LP.org). There is a decent chance that the LP nominee will be Mary Ruwart, a medical researcher who Ron supported a few years ago to lead the FDA, and who shares many of his good qualities such as integrity, humility, and commitment to liberty. Her website is http://www.VoteMary2008.com

Also worth checking out is this animated video on the philosophy of liberty: http://www.isil.org/resources/introduction.swf

This is the first election cycle where my eyes have been opened to extreme depth of corruption of our imbedded politicians. This is an example on the State level where it is eerily familiar to that of the Federal level to thwart our republic. I guess these officials forgot the origin of their Party’s name. Here we have duly (democratically) elected people, who are to given the responsibility to “represent” their local electorate who elected them, being challenged as to their qualifications to represent their region. I will say this, that if they are targeting Ron Paul supporters, these people are probably far more educated about real issues than most of the candidates themselves who spend more of their time politicking and manipulating the uneducated masses for election/re-election where the primary objective is to gain monetary support so their “party wins” (meaning the people lose) rather than addressing real issues that affect all citizens. You know, things like the national debt ($ 9 Trillion), a unending, and yes un-winnable, war where more Americans have died than on 9/11 thus far and where more Iraqi’s have died than Sadaam killed, avoid duplicating this stupid idea by not attacking Iran, correcting the economic disaster by strengthening the dollar and eliminating the source of the problem-the Fed and the Fed’s Gestapo (the IRS), restoring the Constitutional rights and liberties of all individuals by abolishing the Patriot Act’s uncensored power, and maintaining the sovereignty of our nation (disallowing the North American Union to happen) and at the same time respecting the sovereignty of other nations and not being their parents or their police mandating they have a “democracy” like us. These idiots don’t even realize that we have a “republic” NOT a democracy. So who are the people not qualified here?

I was one of the ones challenged and when I got my turn to speak asked, “If I supported someone other than John McCain before the primary that is a challengable offense?” I was told, “Yes, we have a presumptive nominee.” What that says to me is that the MO GOP had chosen the nominee for MO before the primary and that anyone who supported Huckabee, Romney, Thompson, or Paul, could be challenged. People wake up, we need to get the MO GOP back to the principle of limited government and hold our candidates to that.

How is a liberal, pro-Amnesty, pro-gun control man who dumped his maimed wife in order to marry money a “real Republican”? McCain blocked access to documents that families of POWs requested in order to save HIMSELF since there is politically damaging information in them. And those are OUR debriefing files. Vietnam and Russia (at least) have some files on him that make McCain turn white as a ghost. This should alone disqualify him since he is subject to blackmail from foreign countries!

These blatent violations of GoodFaith by the NeoCons are actions of Warfare against American Society, and Humanity overall.
You know them by their fruits.

The traditional Republican Party no longer exists. Ron Paul ran on the Republican ticket for president to gain an audience for his message. As a result he did a tremendous amount of good for the future of this country. I don’t, however, believe as Dr. Paul does that the Republican Party can be fixed–it’s rotten to it’s core. The best course for good freedom loving people to take is through support of the relatively new Constitution Party, now the 3rd largest political party in the U.S. The platform of the Constitution Party could be taken right out of the many Ron Paul speeches.
