Open Comment time!

On this rainy and blustery Sunday afternoon, it’s now time to liven things up with Political Fix’s weekly Open Comment line.

You may post on any topic, any person, any event. If there’s something that we didn’t cover this week that you want to comment on, here’s your chance.

As usual, our rules call for keeping it civil, keeping it (somewhat) concise, and keeping it local/regional.

Now, go for it! (It’s not like there’s anything outside that you can do today, instead!)

Did Mike McMillan cut a deal with Mayor Slay to run in 2013, instead of 2009? That is what the people want to know!

Will Connie Johnson remain on the ballot in the 5th Senatorial District race? That is what people want to know!

Will North St. Louis City be sold to the highest bidders, will most senior citizens and poor people’s properties be sighted for code violations, condemned and blighted, and many residents forced to move to North County where property values are plummetting at an alarming rate and school districts are falling apart at the seams? What should residents in North St. Louis City do to keep their homes when they are earning less and less and the cost of living is rising more and more? Should residents of North St. Louis City march, cry, fly, we know the residents are dying, or say bye, bye? That is what the people want to know!

Is it really true that some African-Americans that claim to be supporting the Recall against Mayor Slay or really working for him behind closed doors? Is it really true that some Northside elected officials are flirting to much (bordering sexual harrassment)with certain interns in Jefferson City, and dating a young lady at Lincoln Univeristy while still married in St. Louis? That is what the people want to know!

Last week you did a story about Juanita Walton getting kicked off the ballot for State Senate Dist. 13, and then said she and her husband Elbert were going to challenge it. Did anything ever happen with this? did the challenge succeed? or has it not yet happened?

Some parts of north county, yes. Here in Ferguson, and also in Florissant, things are pretty good. The Ferguson-Florissant school district is also doing ok. The real problem in north county is the unincorporated areas, which have turned into shooting galleries. Unfortunately, Dooley seems to be more interested in reducing the number of garbage trucks rather than the number of drive-bys. And of course, Riverview Gardens and Hazelwood school districts have big problems - they are full of the sort of kids whose parents choose to live in Castle Point, Countryside Apartments, etc.
