Political Fix Video: Obama in Cape
I was down in Cape G along with Political Fix Czarina Jo Mannies this afternoon for the visit by Sen. Barack Obama. Obama spent about an hour talking to workers at a clothing factory about his economic plans.
The speech itself reiterated a lot of talking points and his basic proposals familiar now to folks keeping track of the lengthy campaign. From the applause, he had the crowd on his side.
What I found most interesting — and perhaps it’s no shock — was just how much he is trying to assume the mantle of the Democratic nominee. It was not until near the end of his Q&A that he mentioned (and only in response to an audience question) that he still technically had a primary opponent.
I was manning the video camera for the day; check out some footage below, with the essentials of Obama’s general election pitch.
Tomorrow I’ll post more, and specifically some reaction and analysis from locals concerning Obama’s chances in such a Red part of the state.
