Ron Paul heading to Branson to haunt Mo GOP

Missouri supporters of Ron Paul, the Republican presidential contender who’s declining to quit despite John McCain’s lock on the nomination, are circulating his video announcement that he’s heading to Branson for a rally on May 30.

That’s the night before the state Republican Party convention — also slated for Branson.

(A hat tip to Jason Rosenbaum at the Columbia Tribune, for first reporting Paul’s planned stop.)

Party leaders have been trying for weeks to weed out the hundreds of pro-Paul delegates elected at local and regional caucuses, to prevent them from being seated at the state convention. The aim is to avoid a McCain-Paul floor fight.

But Paul’s presence the night before could complicate matters.

According to his Web site, Paul will headline a 7 p.m. “Freedom Rally” at Branson’s Tri-Lakes Center, 2527 State Highway 248.

Go, Ron Paul!

Explain to me please, Missouri GOP, why you want to get behind a Democrat, and call it ‘unity’?

“Let it not be said that noone cared, that noone objected once it’s realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy. Let it not be said that we did nothing.

Let not those who love the power of the welfare/warfare state label the dissenters of authoritarianism as unpatriotic or uncaring. Patriotism is more closely linked to dissent than it is to conformity and a blind desire for safety and security.

Understanding the magnificent rewards of a free society makes us unbashful in its promotion, fully realizing that maximum wealth is created and the greatest chance for peace comes from a society respectful of individual liberty. ”

Thanks for the article and thanks for sharing this video great video. It is funny however, that the GOP feels like they are being haunted by someone who is bringing them their traditonal values.

r3VOLution continues.

McCain is doomed. Let then exclude Paul at their own peril.

We can still do it. A short history. In 1960 according to everyone, LBJ had the nomination “locked up” and JFK didn’t have chance. Well a grassroots effort got everyone fired up to go to the national convention and they DEMANDED that JFK be the nominee. We all know how it turned out! I don’t know about you guys, but I am sick to DEATH of having the MSM telling me who I will have to vote for in Nov!!!!!!!! Lets get Dr. Paul ELECTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s good to see Missouri still harbors a stubborn independent streak, and doesn’t trust the federal government to solve all our problems. Let’s remind the Republican party of what they once believed in.

Keep the Revolution alive.

What happens if McCain suffers a heart attack? Though others who have dropped out of the race may have more delegates, Paul is still running, doesn’t he become the presumptive nominee?

As far as the GOP goes, I think it’s becoming a popular trend to fire Republican politicians, the party may not be around much longer. That’s when Democrats will start eating their own, and then maybe we can do away with the divisive parties all together.

I love that the republicans are rallying behind the candidate that will assure that we have a democratic president in 2009. McCain is 4 more years of Bush w/ irrational temper tacked on.
It’s funny that they claim to represent the people, but are selectively choosing and weeding out those very same people they claim to represent.
Lastly, I solute Ron Paul for being one of the only politicians that still works for the people he represents. MORE POWER TO Dr. NO!

“Haunting”? Clearly a horrible choice of words in this context, but perfect for another specter that will be harder to ignore when Dr. Ron Paul visits.

It is the spirit of Ronald Reagan’s classic speech in support of Barry Goldwater that will be “haunting” the Republican Party in Branson on May 30th. And it should. The same Missouri Republican Party whose state committee letterhead comes from the “Ronald Reagan” Republican Center is the one that now wants to ignore the 1964 message of what they consider their greatest President. The TRUTH is that there is NO social security trust fund, that wars are not automatically justified, that the Federal Reserve’s “program of deliberate, planned inflation” hurts the average American. Those are some of the truths that Ronald Reagan spoke of in his classic speech. Dr. Ron Paul, who was one of only four sitting U.S. Representatives who endorsed Ronald Reagan’s 1976 Presidential candidacy believes those truths too, and ACTS upon them. Among many others that Dr. Ron Paul stands for, those truths are something that the party of alleged fiscal conservatism and individual liberty should EMBRACE. Missouri Republicans should be happy to have those issues raised on their own soil by the greatest living champion of them. I know I am.

Prosperity, freedom and truth before “unity”, ALWAYS.

I love how these Paultards come out of the closet for these posts.

Ron Paul’s candidacy is dead in the water. His sound fiscal plans are overshadowed by his unsound social ideas. When his supporters run around claiming that the U.S. blew up the World Trade Center and shot a missile into the Pentagon on 9/11, all credibility for the man as a candidate is lost.

While Ron Paul may have some good ideas, this “R3VOLution” is over, and will be declared dead by the time the national delegates hit the convention floor in Minnesota.

While McCain was not MY first choice for president, he has the delegates to do this. This is NOT Kennedy/Johnson, or even Lincoln. History will NOT be repeated, because RATIONAL conservatives realize that Ron Paul is UNELECTABLE in November, because of his kooky ideas, and the kooks that follow him.

Hillary and Barack continue to beat the crap out of each other, and I find it difficult to believe that there will be party unity once one drops out. John McCain is most likely the next President of the United States, and it all boils down to who he chooses as his running mate, because whoever is VP is the likely president in 2012.

If anyone is trying to assure democrat victory for the White House in November, it’s the Paultards that continue to try to divide the Republican Party (thus turning it into the Libertarian Party), and the Republican Party’s ridiculous responses to them.

This is to Jim the Republican. You are not like the Republicans I know, or was taught that Republicans are. McCain was going to leave the party to run as a Democrat, he is no conservative. Any then again, maybe you are not either. To condone the GOP’s behavior in shutting out Americans that have been elected to the positions of delegates and alternates shows that you are not a TRUE Republican. Our Republic is based on Common Law, where the individual is protected. To support these kind of tactics is a far cry from true Republican Ideals. The party really has gone astray, and that is evident in how many factions there are in it. We did not divide the party, we are trying to unite it, back to the principles this nation was founded upon. The party has been dividing for some time, it was dying until we decided to come back and fight for it. Without us, the party will die. If we are shut out, it will fall. We were even told this by leadership that they could not keep the offices open from lack of support. Putting a strangle hold on those that would fight for true unity, under principles and the banner of the Constitution is foolishness.

Jo Mannies, I commend you for your very straight forward way of reporting the news. I cannot say the same for those who are reporting of this event in Springfield at the News-leader. Their personal bias is glaring, whereas your neutral position is appreciated. I wish that there were more reports that gave the information without a ton of opinion.

I look forward to Ron Paul’s visit. And to get to meet all the true patriots that have stood for what is right when it was not and to some extent still is not popular. However, freedom is popular, we all want it deep down, and one day, many will look back and see these patriots for what they are patriots that tried to right the wrongs and restore the rule of law to our nation. And they will wish that they had stepped forward at this time to do something more then complain. They will feel sheepish for the positions that they took about us, and for the lack of investigation on their part, letting the media think for them, rather then looking at everything for themselves.

— Mrs. Davis

By what right do party officials have to cull out duly elected representatives regardless of who they favor? This just stinks to high heaven. Why bother with caucuses if party officials are going to select the delegates themselves? This is pure neo-con facism and a perfect example of why many of us are fed up with the way the Republican party has been hijacked by a bunch of big government, autocratic would be dictators.

— Steve Brooks

The fact that the Party leaders think they can remove elected delegates, Delegates that have followed the rules to become delegates should really cause everyone to ask questions. How would you feel if you got noticed that you have been challenged and you must come to a integration as to your republicaness because you had the mind to support a candidate other than McCain. Under the new ideas of the party leaders close to 70% of the Missouri primary voters that did not vote form McCain could be removed or excluded from the state and national delegate election process. to from the process.
If these questionable tactics are allowed and excepted by others how long will it be before they come for the Huckabee or Romeny supporters? Who will they come for next? Who did you support in the primary? If the fix is in what are the party leader worried about? Some may down play the seriousness of the actions of the party leaders by saying they are trying to weed out the Pro- Paul supporters—I say they are trying to fix the process. Is this the kind of democracy our forefathers had in mind?
These kind of tactics threaten all not just Republicans, When will we as Americans speak out?
First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me

It’s good to see someone use the correct term “declining” (to quit) in this article for a change rather than the word “refusing.” The word, refuse, indicates willful failure to do what you have a duty to do. Refusal is always attached to a prescribed penalty. To decline is merely to not accept an offer. It is nearly impossible to affect a positive change toward freedom when one doesn’t understand the words of freedom. My compliments to the writer.

“The original American patriots were those individuals brave enough to resist with force the oppressive power of King George. I accept the definition of patriotism as that effort to resist oppressive state power. The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state.” - Ron Paul

To watch the way our state conventions are allowing a few selected people to hand-pick the state delegates from those already voted in makes me ashamed to call myself a Republican. It’s a disgrace.

Two redeeming factors of Missouri the Show Me State! The first is that I was born there. Second and most important is, they know who needs to become the next president!! Show us a great political rally and three cheers for Ron Paul and Missouri!!

Mrs. Davis, if you had bothered to spend any time in this forum prior to now, or in regard to any post OTHER than those about Ron Paul, I think you’d know me to be a STAUNCH conservative.

But I realize that Ron Paul is UNELECTABLE!

Why don’t you?

If you truly think that “the people” will elect the smartest, brightest, most educated person for the job, they would have elected Alan Keyes years ago!

The problem wasn’t his message … the problem was that he was just unelectable. Just like your choice, Ron Paul. Just like my choice, Fred Thompson. Just like Gov. Blunt’s choice, Mitt Romney.

Do you see a pattern, here? McCain might not be all the things we want wrapped up in a conservative package, but he’s far more electable, and he is FAR more conservative on every issue than Obama or Clinton.

To suggest that I’m neither a conservative nor a real republican simply because I don’t agree with you is a bit hypocritical, don’t you think?

Mr. Republican,
I guess the days when Republicans could be considered to be gentlemen are long passed based upon the tone and wording of your posts. Paultards? Really? How unoriginal. And electability sir, sorry you are mistaken as Dr. Paul was the only Republican candidate who could have won the general election. The thing is that to do so a public rejection of many of the policies of the last six years would have been required and the Republican party would rather lose at the voting booth than allow that to happen. That is why Ron Paul was so vigorously opposed by his own party.

Here is the future, Mr. Republican. This November will be a bloodbath with Republicans not only losing the Whitehouse but being reduced to tiny minorities in both houses of Congress. This will happen at least in part because the Republican party leadership has fully turned against its base and has no real support outside the corruption of the beltway. Hopefully, after that loss the Neocons will go back to the Democratic party, the remaining current party leadership will be deposed, and we can rebuild the house that Reagan built.

Again Mr. Republican, I have been here before today, I just read more the responded. And To say that Blunt supporting Romney some how makes Romney conservative is absurd! Romney supported socialized health care in MA! With MANDATED paying for it or else! You are not as conservative as you claim to be, and that it clear. It is not because you disagree with me that I state that. I started out supporting Romney, then I saw his record, then I looked at all their records. This was the FIRST time I did not just vote straight party line without checking out the people. I used to believe that all Republicans were the same, good, moral people that loved the rule of law by the Constitution. Boy did I have a rude awakening last year! This is not the country that my ancestors fought and died for, we have something else, and I do not like it! Many Americans do not like it! Have you seen the National Committee blog lately? People are bailing ship because it is sinking. The least you could do is not attack us, like the rest of the GOP is doing, when we are trying to bail out water and save the ship!

I am excited! People keep calling the Ron Paul supporters all sorts of names, but the truth is we know more about how the political system works and how our founding fathers wanted our country more than any other supporters. We are very sane and we are joining forces for a cause. A cause that is more important than so many other things that are talked about; all of these things that are so bad in our country is because we will not do as we were instructed by our founding fathers who made the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and the ways to have a good country. We are going to make a change and we are not going away. We are a bigger group than anyone realizes and we are all teaming up for the Love of a Revolution and the facts of Ron Paul’s thinking in peace, strength, integrity, and pride. Never give up~With all we do do in love, peace, and purpose.

“Weed out the Ron Paul delegates”? Why bother having primaries if delegates are decided at the conventions and everyone has to vote how they’re told to? Welsomce to the USSR.Peace, prosperity, and Paul 2008!

“Party leaders have been trying for weeks to weed out the hundreds of pro-Paul delegates elected at local and regional caucuses, to prevent them from being seated at the state convention”

Because that is what a Democratic Republic is all about, having the people with power bulldoze everyone’s voice except the ones that will help them sustain and gain more power over our lives, our money, and our rights.

The Federal Reserve is part of the problem not the solution!

Sign and forward the Ron Paul Is Right: Abolish the Federal Reserve Petition at

The collapsing dollar, falling housing market, the subprime mortgage and growing credit crisis and stock market weakness are all a result of earlier Federal Reserve actions designed to maximize Wall Street and banking profits at the expense of productive, working Americans.
