Slay still thinks Clinton belongs on the ticket — somewhere

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Mayor Francis Slay’s early endorsement of Hillary Clinton may not have been the consensus choice at City Hall, where many other officials sided with Barack Obama, the senator next door.

But it would be tough to challenge Slay’s loyalty.

As an increasing number of Democrats side with Obama as the inevitable nominee, Slay last week reiterated his support for Clinton.

“I am a delegate to the Democratic National Convention pledged to Hillary Rodham Clinton,” Slay wrote on his website. “I have endorsed her and I remain strongly committed to her candidacy for president.”

But what if Clinton’s long-shot bid for the nomination falls through? Slay still believes she belongs on the ticket — even if it’s not at the top.

“Senator Clinton has demonstrated the leadership, grasp of issues, compassion, and toughness to serve as the nation’s commander in chief,” Slay writes. “Those are essential qualifications for president - and also, therefore, for vice president.”

Slay is right!

Hillary should be at the top of the ticket - she gives us the best chance to win in November!

Obama is a “black George McGovern.” Slay is one of the few Democrats who is smart enough not to walk the plank for Obama, who will be slaughtered in November. You lefties need to practice saying “President McCain.” Unless, of course, you’ll be continuing your disrespectful practice of referring to the President by disparaging nicknames.

Keep dreaming, Nick. Obama will win in November, and bring larger majorities in Congress to get his agenda passed. The nation is tired of Republicans, and only tolerates John McCain because they think that maybe he’s more like a Democrat.

Slay is just being loyal. She is not a good choice for VP. Obama should pick Sen. Jim Webb from Virginia. He’s a white southern war-hero from a swing state. And he’s a moderate. He brings a ton of national defense credentials, and like many Americans, is a FORMER Republican.

Clinton anywhere on the ticket and it’s McCain in November! The V.P. has to be a white male or Obama won’t win. Obama and anybody but Clinton on the ticket, and the Democrats SLAUGHTER Republicans in November.
