President Bush answered a softball question about what happens after the White House. He says his time there has been fun — he takes a jab at the furniture “like a museum” — but says he’s ready to return to Crawford.

“I guess I’m going to go home and mow the lawn.”

He says some days are better than others, but he’s stayed true to his principles.  

“You can’t be shifting your principles in order to be the popular guy.”

He’s also talking about setting up a think tank in Texas, and in particular a presidential library at Southern Methodist University. He also says he’s interested in more faith-based initiatives. Perhaps a new Bush charity?

He’s ending with a joke about picking the rug in the Oval Office. “When you’re short on a subject, and I’m short on rugs, delegate.”

That was a segue into picking the next president as someone who knows how to delegate and picking good solid advisors. “Their job by the way once a president makes up his mind, is to say, “Yes sir, Mr. President.’”

He delegated the rug choice to his wife. He said it “looks like the sun” and speaks to his optimism.
