UPDATED: Because of some type of computer glitch, I received this invitation about six weeks late — the event was actually March.
While his rivals clash over who lives where, state Rep. Rodney Hubbard continues to court supporters in a creative way.

In December, Hubbard hosted a bash at J. Buck’s with guests that included homegrown rap stars Nelly and Jibbs. Later, homegrown fighter Devon Alexander wore Hubbard garb as he entered the ring for a nationally-televised fight.

Tonight On March 26, the St. Louis Democrat has set-up a “Women for Hubbard”event at the tony Kemoll’s restaurant, at the top of the Met Square building downtown. The host committee reads like a who’s who of women in city politics and other fields:

Prosecutor Jennifer Joyce
Alderman Marlene Davis
Alderman April Ford Griffin
Alderman Kacie Starr Triplett
State Rep. Jamilah Nasheed
Sable Campbell-Jones, wife of former comptroller Virvus Jones
Michelle and Ivie Clay, sister and wife respectively to U.S. U.S. Rep. Lacy Clay
Pearlie Evans, veteran political operative
Tricia Hamilton, wife of lobbyist Lou Hamilton
Former Creve Coeur mayor Annette Mandel
Real estate whiz Mary “One” Johnson
Hip-hop producer Ira DeWitt, whose husband is Cardinals president Bill DeWitt III

The committee also includes a “special invited guest”: California Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who is a St. Louis native.
