Brady anti-gun group backs Newman in 73rd

Democrat Stacey Newman, who’s competing against Steve Brown for their party’s nod in the 73rd state House district, announced this afternoon that she received the endorsement of the national Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

As Newman’s release explains it: “Stacey earned a strong reputation eight years ago when she became one of the closest aides to the Brady Campaign and Governor (Bob) Holden in fighting conceal-carry legislation in Missouri.”

Said Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke in a statement:. “We salute your leadership in the fight for stronger gun laws as one of the founding members of the St. Louis Million Mom March Chapter. We thank you for working to protect Missouri’s children, families and communities from gun violence. We look forward to our continued partnership as we work with you to bring about a safer Missouri.”

Helmke’s letter calls the Brady Campaign the “largest, non-partisan, grassroots organization leading the fight to prevent gun violence.”

As Newman points out, “It is named in honor of James Brady who was shot and wounded during the assassination attempt of President (Ronald) Reagan while he was serving as Reagan’s press secretary and his wife, Sarah Brady, who chaired the nation-wide organization from 1989-2000.”

Ms Newman must have a death wish upon herself, and others if she did not decline that “endorsemnt” from the Brady Gang.

I own guns. I know you can’t trust them. Just last month my glock jumped up and ran out the door. Ichased that firearm for over 90 meters. A glock is a fast runner. I did catch it and bring it home. I admit that I slapped it twice. I am expecting a complant from the Brady Gang that I abused a firearm.

The Brady gang are a bunch of fools. They convinced my Glock to run away from home, and to leave me defensless at shortrange.

Come to think of it I may sue them for alienation of affections. My Glock hates me, and I don’t trust my Glock. It’s all the fault of the Brady Gang.

I may ask for punative damages as well. it would be the right thing to do and for the safety of our children!

It is a shame the headline erroneously refers to the Brady Center as “anti-gun”. They are anti-gun violence, but certainly not anti-gun. They try to pass common sense gun laws, such as making sure everyone who buys a gun has a background check, that the dangerously mental ill are prevented from owning firearms, and that those on the terror watch list are blocked from buying guns. 32,000 people a year are killed by firearms in the US, so if Newman is doing something to do something about it, and take on those hypocrites at the NRA, then she has my vote.

What criminal or killer cares about gun bans and background checks or conceal carry permits? Laws only limit those who follow them. This group is absolutely anti-gun. Anyone who says different is either grossly misinformed or lying. I enjoyed Brady Centers scoring of the safest states.
One Example:
Brady scores the “safest” on a 100 point system with 100 being the best and 1 being the worse.
Kentucky scores a “2″.
According to a U.S. Census Bureau 2004 report, Kentucky experienced 79 violent crimes per 100,000 population. The lowest in the nation.

In fact, of the ten states that experienced the least violent crime, none scored higher than a 12 from the Brady Center. Brady’s top state is California with 552 violent crimes per 100,000. You tell me which state you would rather walk alone down any road unarmed.

Look, criminal and killers don’t care about laws on background checks, gun bans, or conceal carry. That’s why they are called criminals. Laws only limit those who obey them. The law abiding who are not a threat to society to begin with. My 10 year old understands this. Do you?

No question, I would rather walk alone and unarmed in California.

What happens when your 10-year-old shows off your gun to one of his buddies and accidentally shoots him in the face?

Calling all good citzens to get this woman out, vote againdst her.
It is obvious she cares nothing about her voters only her selfish ambitions
and personal gains, she has never faced danger in the eyes.

Never faced danger in the eyes? Do you know that for a fact? Considering her long-time stance on this issue, I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s received death threats. She’s probably been confronted and harassed by the opposition. Situations that no doubt would have caused you to “jump the gun” and come out firing, driving up the statistics that people of your ilk tend to ignore.

You think she’s selfish? You want to protect your so-called right to bear arms, even at the risk of putting others in danger.

The bad news for you and the good news for everyone else is that she’s running in a predominantly Democratic district, so your little plan has no chance of getting off the ground.

One last thing. If you’re going to have the audacity to use a nick like “jesusC”, try acting Christlike. Just for a day.

Bob says 32,000 people a year are killed by firearms in the U.S.. That’s an average of 640 people per state per year. Those numbers just don’t square up. Another example of hype from the anti-gun crowd. John

There WILL be a Democrat elected in the 73rd. The Supremes have shut down anti-gun nuts. Stacey Newman is by far the superior candidate over that blue blood carpetbagger Steve Brown. He lost a race in ANOTHER district in 2002 and now he’s haunting this one. Newman has more than paid her dues working from decent causes and centrist viewpoints. She’s passionately anti-gun and I’ve told her to her face she’s wrong. But it doesn’t matter. She’ll have nothing to say about it and I am going to vote for NEWMAN on August 5th. Brown is trouble. He thinks he should inherit the seat. If you’re going to get a liberal Democrat get one with some integrity.
