Brady anti-gun group backs Newman in 73rd
Democrat Stacey Newman, who’s competing against Steve Brown for their party’s nod in the 73rd state House district, announced this afternoon that she received the endorsement of the national Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
As Newman’s release explains it: “Stacey earned a strong reputation eight years ago when she became one of the closest aides to the Brady Campaign and Governor (Bob) Holden in fighting conceal-carry legislation in Missouri.”
Said Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke in a statement:. “We salute your leadership in the fight for stronger gun laws as one of the founding members of the St. Louis Million Mom March Chapter. We thank you for working to protect Missouri’s children, families and communities from gun violence. We look forward to our continued partnership as we work with you to bring about a safer Missouri.”
Helmke’s letter calls the Brady Campaign the “largest, non-partisan, grassroots organization leading the fight to prevent gun violence.”
As Newman points out, “It is named in honor of James Brady who was shot and wounded during the assassination attempt of President (Ronald) Reagan while he was serving as Reagan’s press secretary and his wife, Sarah Brady, who chaired the nation-wide organization from 1989-2000.”

Ms Newman must have a death wish upon herself, and others if she did not decline that “endorsemnt” from the Brady Gang.
I own guns. I know you can’t trust them. Just last month my glock jumped up and ran out the door. Ichased that firearm for over 90 meters. A glock is a fast runner. I did catch it and bring it home. I admit that I slapped it twice. I am expecting a complant from the Brady Gang that I abused a firearm.
The Brady gang are a bunch of fools. They convinced my Glock to run away from home, and to leave me defensless at shortrange.
Come to think of it I may sue them for alienation of affections. My Glock hates me, and I don’t trust my Glock. It’s all the fault of the Brady Gang.
I may ask for punative damages as well. it would be the right thing to do and for the safety of our children!
