Comptroller’s job corps puts the green in Green
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
How’s this for banking on your last name: Comptroller Darlene Green is the eponymous founder of a job-training campaign entitled Green Tree Academy. 
The 10-week program offers classes and career placement help to “inner city adults” interested in arboriculture, the cultivation of trees and shrubs.
Academy participants will perform their annual community service project tomorrow by teaming with the city’s Forestry Division and Ameren Corp. to cut down trees interfering with power lines — a welcomed endeavor to anyone who’s ever missed a ballgame (or a deadline) because the power was knocked out in a St. Louis windstorm.
