Dems prep for charity softball game with swing at McCain

Martin Casas, head of the St. Louis Young Democrats, is setting the tone early for his group’s upcoming charity softball game against their Republican counterparts.

“While they have a candidate who needs a walker to make it around the bases,” Casas writes in an e-mail to fellow Democrats, “we’ll show them that YES, WE CAN beat them this weekend!”

Young Democrats will take on Young Republicans Sunday at 2 p.m. on the diamond at the city’s Lyon Park, near the Brewery. The game will benefit Cool Down St. Louis, which provides energy assistance to low-income households.

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a Republican, and St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley, a Democrat, are serving as the honorary “club owners.”

The Dems, by the way, are still looking for players. If you’re interested, drop them an e-mail.

I know the young Dems were trying to be funny with the Walker comment, but I wonder if any of them could spend five years in a hell hole like the Hanoi Hilton and still be as active and vibrant as John McCain is now? I hope none of them will ever have to find out.

Way to tell ;em Marty. I only wish I could be there to call all them YR’s, who kain’t beat the oLD PACKYDERMS, thanks to blue leader, much less the powerful YD’s OUT on Strikes. That’s the way they always are, young or old, out on missed swings or not even swinging at all!!!!

Typical mean-spirited Democrats. Demetrius, evidently you’re okay with name calling as long as it’s for charity. Wow…you Dems/liberals are mean. It really goes to a bigger issue. Obama’s supporters are young and probably should be forgiven for their comments. Think about it: they have been educated in a failing education system by liberal teachers/professors with parents who worshipped a president that was getting his groove on with an intern in the Oval Office. It’s no wonder these youth are ignorant and have no moral values. So, I can forgive them a bit for making comments like Casas did.

I am a Dem, as I am sure most of you have figured out by now. But, I really don’t get this public (e-mail) reference to McCain’s age (especially when it is apparent that he does NOT need a walker). That accomplishes nothing, a bit hypocritical when one of our Dem heroes is/was wheel-chair bound FDR. It does not speak to the issues, which should be our focus. It alienates the older population–which frankly votes in more powerful numbers than those under 30.

I guess we can equate the “Young” in YD with foolish.

WTF you all need a hug. ITs a charity game for Cool Down St. Louis, an organization to provide energy assistance to low-income households. Not a damn debate on email etiquette.

Demetrius,
I realize it’s a charity game. Do you think it takes away from the good when you dismiss an entire generation? Of course, I am asking this of someone who uses WTF and hug in the same sentence so I am aware the answer may be a bit blurry.

You guys didn’t get the memo?

McCain’s age/looks……open season.
Anything Obama……….off limits.

You are absolutely right about Obama being off limits. Can you imagine if the Young Republicans President had made reference to Obama’s race and equated that to supposed athletic ability. There would be a public outcry, but then again I know their president, and he has class.
