Father Blunt backs Hulshof
From Ozark, Mo., comes this news (not unexpected) that U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt is endorsing fellow Congressman Kenny Hulshof in the Missouri gubernatorial race.
Sayeth Blunt, the U.S. House Minority Whip:
”I’ve worked with Kenny Hulshof for about 12 years. He understands our state. He shares our values. I believe he will be a great governor.”
Hulshof’s statement in response:
“Roy Blunt is a leader in Missouri Republican politics. He has been very influential in establishing Republican majorities in Jefferson City and is well-respected around the entire state. I am honored to have the support of someone of Roy’s stature.”
This is another prominent endorsement for Hulshof, who already has the backing of U.S. Sen. Kit Bond, the state Chamber of Commerce and the Missouri Right to Life organization to name a few.
The Missouri Dems took the opportunity to (actually before I received the official word from the Hulshof campaign) go after both Blunt and Hulshof.
Jack Cardetti, the Dems spox, in an email:
“In Washington, Congressman Hulshof supports the Bush agenda and in Missouri, Congressman Hulshof embraces the Blunt agenda. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Matt Blunt’s father and George Bush’s top ally would support Congressman Hulshof in this race. While Hulshof’s support for Matt Blunt and George Bush may win him some endorsements from Washington politicians, it won’t win him much support from the people of Missouri, who overwhelmingly want change.”

Speaking of Hulshof
Here is the person that will be taking his seat in congress.
