The national headquarters of the Pachyderms Club - a Republican organization founded in Columbia, Mo., in 1967 - is expected to return this year to its Show-Me State roots.

John Wiemann of O’Fallon, Mo., a member of the Pachyderms national board, said he and other leaders are looking at sites in St. Charles County and the West Port area of St. Louis County to serve as the group’s new national headquarters.

Wiemann said the board last year voted to move the office from Great Falls, Mont., to Missouri. He said a St. Louis area site isn’t “100 percent certain yet” but the shift could win approval when the board meets in St. Charles later this month.

He said plans call for the organization to hire an executive director and possibly one other staff member.

The organization’s website says there are more than 60 clubs in 15 states. Many, like the one in St. Charles County, hold weekly lunch-hour meetings to hear from GOP elected officials, candidates and other speakers.
