Guess who’s behind “Save AB” website?

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Since arriving in St. Louis, Ed Martin has been a litigator, an aide to the archbishop, ran the city Elections Board and — most notoriously, perhaps — had a short but tumultuous turn as Gov. Matt Blunt’s chief of staff. SaveAB.com

In his spare time, he’s written a regular newspaper column and offered additional commentary on Web video.

Now, he’s got a new mission: Keeping A.B. in the U.S.A.

Martin has helped start an online petition, SaveAB.com, to protest the hostile takeover bid of St. Louis brewing institution Anheuser-Busch by Belgian beer giant InBev.

“Americans don’t want the Statue of Liberty bought by the Saudis or the Washington Monument purchased by the Chinese,” Martin said in a new release yesterday. “Shareholders should resist choosing dollars over American jobs. Selling out to the Belgians is not worth it - because this is about more than beer: it’s about our jobs and our nation.”

The release warned of future action, including stock buys, boycotts and rallies at — where else? — Busch Stadium.

JasonB, Even if Martin only wants “non-binding resolutions”, which you are asserting based on nothing but YOUR fertile mind, then that’s still government action. Even if it’s just Blunt calling AB’s management and urging them to fight the sale, it’s still government action. You see, he’s the G-O-V-E-R-N-O-R, and any action taken by him or the legislature (whether it’s binding or non-binding) is still government action.

You’re the one who needs to start reading what IS there, and give it up. You lose. You’re wrong, and you know it. Or is “up” actually “down” now in Bluntworld?

I do know that government passing a resolution - the Governor asking the Board of AB to not sell - etc etc is not in violation of free market principles which supposedly was your argument against Martin and Blunt to begin with.

Surely everybody knows that your “concern” for free market principles was and is a farce. This whole discussion has been about yet another opportunity to attack Martin and the Governor. It embodies the demcorat attack modus operandi - cloak yourself in something that is mom, apple pie and chevrolet so as not to appear demonic - and then use that cloak to attack your opponent.

Fortunately Martin and the Governor are way too smart for you people. They will continue to urge and try to persuade against the sale but unless they actually try to pass some silly law - they will not be violating free market principles.

None of this is likely to matter anyway as the deal will most likely be consumated. And then I will lmao as you people attack Martin and Blunt for not doing enough. The only thing you people are consistent about is in being inconsistent.

“Fortunately Martin and the Governor are way too smart for you people.”

Haaaa. Haaaa. Haaa. Haaa. Haaa. That’s a great one, Jason. You’re way too funny. No, seriously, stop it. It hurts to laugh so hard. Haaaaa.

And for you, dear lad, of all people to whine about anyone attacking anyone is preposterous beyond all measure. Before I told you to give it up. Now I’m going to suggest you get a clue.

It’s all about profit…In recent years, AB sold the Cardinals & Earth Grains to give the stockholders more profit.. Should the stockholders reject the profit? The US sells out to the highest bidder..!!!

Looking over the AB stock for the span of June 07 - June 08, the stock roller-coasted between the mid-$50 to mid/upper-$40…. Now the $65/share profit will be hard to ignore. (In May 08, it was about $47.50/share befoe the announcement by InBev). Do you think ANY company gives a d@*n about it’s employees??? Take the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No whining here - just stating the obvious. Some democrats cannot even join together on a common issue without using to bash people. That’s what you have done here and usually everywhere.

I am right not only on that but on Martin and Blunt being smarter too. I know - I know - the truth hurts. Just grin and bear it.

If George W. had not caused the planet to hate us, thus driving the dollar down, the Belgians and Canadians wouldn’t have the financial strength to buy our breweries, real estate, and whatever else looked attractive.

EVERYONE SHOULD RELAX AND LET Anheuser-Busch get sold. It stopped being an American Company about 10 years ago anyway. Budweiser is the lowest selling beer in the world Anyways. The shareholders have every right to get the most out of there shares.
We should get the most out of our Shares before AugustIV runs the company to the ground. Yes I agree that it’s sad to see A-B leave the US but let’s face it it is bound to happen since the Europeans and Mexicans own the beer market. So stop all the complaining and just let it go. As for the jobs the people would be better off than working for a company that does not pay you what your worth.
A-B to Beligium….. Can’t wait to see it happen

Anti-Bud…. What are you thinking, you obviuosly are not an ab employee… I am not an employee of AB but a long time shareholder. Its quite clear the Busch family has been asleep at the wheel for quite some time but there are other folks, direct employees and indirect employees that don’t deserve to loose there jobs just because shareholders haven’t made money in 10 years. The bottom line is the job loss here in America, it continues and will happen with this deal. Does anyone really know the real overall job impact will be? I spent 10 years of my career closing plants and moving jobs to MEXICO for Emerson Electric. Why for shareholder value!!! The towns these plants resided in have just been desimated….. I couldn’t deal with it anymore so I left to work for another company driving to create American jobs through technology, NOT cheap labor used to create shareholder value and fat payroll checks and stock options…. Enough said

Well George for your information I was an Anheuser-Busch employee for 5 years.Don’t get me wrong the benefits are outstanding, but when you work 12 hour days and only make $40,000 dollars (because i was Salary), and have a college degree. Something is not right there. I think I would have got paid more in Mexico….. by Modelo Brewing. Look I would hate to see A-B leave, but lets face it, I was on the inside and saw a lot of things go wrong a lot of people ruing the company, so eventually it was going down. The way I see it let’s make our money and invest overseas.
