UPDATED AGAIN: Harris gets creative with Koster attack

Daniel Nava, a spokesman for Margaret Donnelly offered this little nugget in an e-mail to me moments ago:

“If the truth hurts, I guess Chris can try and hide behind copyright law.  I suggest we elevate the conversation to an adult level.  I hope Chris and Jeff will join Margaret and talk about what really matters: protecting Missouri families.”

Second add as of  3:29 p.m.

Danny Kanner, spokesman for Chris Koster, just dropped me a response from to Harris like Web song-and-dance number:

“Poor Jeff Harris.  He just doesn’t seem to get it.  While he’s off making little cartoons, Chris Koster is talking to voters about how he’s the only Attorney General candidate with real law enforcement experience.

Of course, when the recording industry gets through with Harris’s rip-off of Ringo Starr and the Beatles, he may learn something yet about the legal process.  Copyright law is as good a place to start as any.”

Original post, of 1:30 p.m.

You’ve got to hand it to would-be attorney general Jeff Harris’ web team. This latest Web short contains some quality production value regardless of whether you agree with any of the assertions.

It’s reminiscent of the www.jibjab.com team which became famous for political animated cartoons in 2004, including “This Land” featuring George W. Bush in a tank and John Kerry getting Botox.

I’ll post any response from Chris Koster’s people or Margaret Donnelly’s folks, should they wish to wade into this one.

Along with the post, Harris sent out a little background on the criticisms, alleging that:

  • Chris Koster appeared on the campaign trail for George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Even though he claims to be a Democrat, Koster’s campaign website features a now doctored photo of Koster speaking at a Bush-Cheney rally.
  • Chris Koster appeared in a television ad supporting conservative John Ashcroft during Ashcroft’s brutal Senate campaign against Governor Mel Carnahan, a Democratic icon.
  • As a top Republican leader in the Missouri Senate, Koster supported and helped push through numerous items in Matt Blunt’s agenda, including Blunt’s immoral health care cuts and the unconstitutional photo ID bill which would have blocked seniors and minority voters from casting ballots in 2006.

CurtZ,

If Koster was behind, Harris would not be taking the cheap shots. Harris is grasping at straws. Harris is trying anything he can to get people to notice him. Unfortunately for him, he is a better comedian then he is candiate for AG.

Koster should probably thanks Harris for all the free advertisement. Maybe even Koster could loan a couple bucks to Harris’ campaign to get a real ad?

Jack: If Koster was such a clear leader in this race, then why would he have you spend so much time on the blogs trying defending him? Harris is taking votes away from Koster. It’s as simple as that. Folks find out about Koster’s record, and they say, you know what, maybe I’ll support the Democrat instead.

This video has to be painful for you, Jack, because you know it’s true. So I’ll tell you what, since Koster won’t defend his campaigning for Ashcroft, Bush and Blunt, why don’t you take a shot at it? Would you care to tell us why Democrats should support someone who picked Ashcroft over Mel Carnahan?

I heard that Molly Williams did an internal poll and it had Harris up by 10 points among likely voters, Donnelly was running strongest among women and Koster was running strongest among Republicans pretending for the sake of the poll to be Democrats.

Shecky,
Is Bob McCullough a Democrat? Is Jimmy Hoffa a democrat? Are St. Louis, Kansas City, and MHP cops democrats? YES, OF COURSE THEY ARE DEMOCRATS!!Than why did they all support Koster? BECAUSE YOU’RE DEAD WRONG ABOUT KOSTER, THAT’S WHY! Koster’s a democrat, supported by democrats, and he’s gunna win the nomination of the democrats. Harris is a faker who should work for the Cartoon Network, not the the AG’s office. He already tried it there once and couldn’t make it work for longer than 8 months. This nonsense may be may be amusing you and your 20 or so dungeon and dragons buddies, but it’s not gunna win any elections.

Dear Political Fix staff,

The video quite humorously points out that Koster supported Ashcroft, Bush and Blunt? People like me who are going to vote in the democratic primary are entitled to know why he supported for these republicans?

That is the point that Harris is raising with this video. Why does Koster refuse to answer why he supported Ashcroft, Blunt and Bush. Instead, he has spokesperson #???? attack Harris.

While you asking questions toHil

that you missed. How come the Koster voted to kick 100,000 people off health care. Why is it that the only person Koster can get to blog for him is his brother Mark Koster for Georgia.

Very good points: Why won’t Koster answer these questions? He keeps trying to change the subject. Or rather he keeps having his ever-changing spokespeople change the subject.

But don’t Democrats deserve to know that a guy who says he’s a Democrat actually campaigned for John Ashcroft over Mel Carnahan? And why won’t Koster talk about that? Adam, did you ask Danny for an explanation? Or did you ask to talk to Koster himself? You might get an exclusive since Koster never talks to reporters.

I love it that Jeff is taking Koster to the woodshed. The race is a two person battle between Jeff and Donnelly. This helps Jeff.

Donnelly is good but where is Donnelly. She is sitting on the sidelines like she did when Jeff took on Gibbons on the phony same sex marriage issue.

Does Donnelly’s “I’m above this” statement help her at all? I don’t think so. So far during this entire campaign it is Harris who has been on the offensive. Margaret Donnelly has waited for Harris to take action on every front before she jumps in.

Harris was a leader in the House and even Donnelly’s actions show Harris is the leader in the Attorney General race!

Jack - are you really Chris Koster’s brother. If that’s true, Koster’s campaign must be more desperate for support than Harris or Donnelly could even imagine. Let’s flip around your own comment to say “Koster is trying anything he can to get people to notice him.” Anything. Everything. And it ain’t working.
