UPDATED AGAIN: Harris gets creative with Koster attack
Daniel Nava, a spokesman for Margaret Donnelly offered this little nugget in an e-mail to me moments ago:
“If the truth hurts, I guess Chris can try and hide behind copyright law. I suggest we elevate the conversation to an adult level. I hope Chris and Jeff will join Margaret and talk about what really matters: protecting Missouri families.”
Second add as of 3:29 p.m.
Danny Kanner, spokesman for Chris Koster, just dropped me a response from to Harris like Web song-and-dance number:
“Poor Jeff Harris. He just doesn’t seem to get it. While he’s off making little cartoons, Chris Koster is talking to voters about how he’s the only Attorney General candidate with real law enforcement experience.
Of course, when the recording industry gets through with Harris’s rip-off of Ringo Starr and the Beatles, he may learn something yet about the legal process. Copyright law is as good a place to start as any.”
Original post, of 1:30 p.m.
You’ve got to hand it to would-be attorney general Jeff Harris’ web team. This latest Web short contains some quality production value regardless of whether you agree with any of the assertions.
It’s reminiscent of the www.jibjab.com team which became famous for political animated cartoons in 2004, including “This Land” featuring George W. Bush in a tank and John Kerry getting Botox.
I’ll post any response from Chris Koster’s people or Margaret Donnelly’s folks, should they wish to wade into this one.
Along with the post, Harris sent out a little background on the criticisms, alleging that:
- Chris Koster appeared on the campaign trail for George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Even though he claims to be a Democrat, Koster’s campaign website features a now doctored photo of Koster speaking at a Bush-Cheney rally.
- Chris Koster appeared in a television ad supporting conservative John Ashcroft during Ashcroft’s brutal Senate campaign against Governor Mel Carnahan, a Democratic icon.
- As a top Republican leader in the Missouri Senate, Koster supported and helped push through numerous items in Matt Blunt’s agenda, including Blunt’s immoral health care cuts and the unconstitutional photo ID bill which would have blocked seniors and minority voters from casting ballots in 2006.

The truth does not hurt. The fact that this message is 20 plus post down where it will not be read does hurt, a little.
Margaret Donnelly was a divorse lawyer for about 100 years. Acting like she has any experience which is relevant is just funny.
Jeff Harris has zero experience. His only real experience is being a Lawyer at Bryan Cave (which they never talk about, hmmmm….). Besides that, nada. If anyone mentions how little experience he has his team of bloggers talk about how much money he gave up to run for office. Who cares? Honestly, it is offensive to all those that have been doing it all along.
Koster is the only one that has spent a career working for the people of Missouri. 10 plus years as a County Prosecutor and 4 years as a State Senator. All the B.S. around Koster and his switch is just spin. Harris and Donnelly thought they had a walk in the park and Koster disrupted their plans. Neither of Harris or Donelly are the most qualified Democratic canidate.
You know what hurts? Supporting a candidate like Harris (that attacks everyone for his own benefit) or Donnelly (that has less experience then Harris)
Chris Koster may be new to the party but he brings a ton more to the ticket then either Harris or Donnelly.
Now imagine the same ad with McCain instead of Koster.
This is hilarious. It’s almost enough to make me vote for Harris … not that I’m going to be voting in the Democratic primary anyway, and not that I’d vote for him in the general … but wow, that was funny.
The real story here, though, is how these two are leaving Donnelly in the dust. Her campaign has absolutely no buzz.

I don’t except you to vote for Jeff. You don’t expect me to vote for Gibbons although I like that him and my husband is supporting him.
You got to love how Koster or his flunkies just can’t answer why he cut an ad against Mel Carnahan or why he supported Matt Blunt.
Koster will never answer the question because he can’t because he is yellow.
But what is even more hilarious than the video is that Koster the imposter’s poster is none other than his brother Mark Koster. Yep that’s right. Mark Koster who lives in Alpharetta, Georgia. That is how pathetic Koster is. The only person that will post for Koster is his brother from Georgia.
I love the video! It’s worth the laugh regardless of who’s campaign you’re rooting for.
I noticed in some of the comments above posters refer to “Jack” as Chris Koster’s brother. I’m not sure how anyone figured that out but that should maybe be a sign Koster’s campaign is imploding. Jack is the only poster with positive things to say about Koster and they just seem to consist of “my guy is better than your guy” arguments that hold zero weight. Sorry Jack-o, whoever you are, you’re guy isn’t going to make it in this race. Better luck next time.
St Louis voter,
You ask:
< Is Bob McCullough a Democrat? Is Jimmy Hoffa a democrat? Are St. Louis, < Kansas City, and MHP cops democrats? YES, OF COURSE THEY ARE DEMOCRATS!!< Than why did they all support Koster? BECAUSE YOU’RE DEAD WRONG ABOUT
< KOSTER, THAT’S WHY! Koster’s a democrat, supported by democrats, and
< he’s gunna win the nomination of the democrats.
I don’t know, are they Democrats? I truly do not believe that voters are impressed by these particular endorsements. Just the same old, same old status quo. People really want change.
This may also explain why Bob McCullough has never been challenged as St. Louis County Prosecutor, certainly can’t be said to be a good thing. What changes the minds of people who have considered running against McCullough? Scary stuff I suppose.
The video is entertaining and educational - but not in the way Harris intends. Despite the fact that all of his friends are trying to defend him - Harris’ true personality is coming through - one that is hateful and ‘me’ focused.
In my profession I have had the opportunity to work with all three candidates. Harris is by far the worst of the pack. He is self-centered -egotistical - shallow and willing to sacrifice others for what he wants. Koster is all of these as well but even he doesn’t have it as well honed as Harris.
Donnelly on the other hand is the most sincere candidate of the three. She does what she does because she thinks it is right - not because she thinks it will further her political career as her two opponents measure every action.
Always nice to have a Republican hack like JasonB giving us advice on how to vote in a Democratic primary.
JasonB hates Harris. Just hates him. Why because he doesn’t take any **** from the nuts like JasonB. Sort of like Matt Blunt hates Jeff Harris. If a nutty Republican hack like JasonB doesn’t like Harris that means Democrats should vote for him.
I bet JasonB would love it if Donnelly won the primary because she is not a strong statewide candudate.
Thanks for clearing up who I should vote for.
By the way, even you have to admit that the video is clever.

D. Walker, it is good to see that you can spout ridiculous nonsense about something other than Obama. Might it be that McCullough has never had a serious challenge because he does a good job? Or because St. Louis county republicans have done a poor job coming up with candidates for county offices? What sort of scary stuff are you suggesting? Anybody who has read this blog for more than a few minutes knows that I’m no Democrat, but what you’re saying about McCullough is nasty - and absurd.

Not to start an argument of preference here, but this comment stood out to me.
“If a nutty Republican hack like JasonB doesn’t like Harris that means Democrats should vote for him. ”
Check the Missouri GOP blogs. All they do is trash Koster. Wonder why? Because they know how effective he’ll be for the Democratic Party if he gets the nod. If Koster is so bad like everyone says, shouldn’t the R’s be lauding him? If nutty Republican hacks don’t like Koster that means Democrats should vote for him.
I dont know, but its at least worth thinking about, right?
