Kinder denied Rt to Life support?

We’re still trying to nail this down, but the word on the Internet — and on the Springfield News-Leader Web blog– is that Missouri Right to Life has opted AGAINST an endorsement in the lieutenant governor’s race.

Right to Life president Pam Fichter is quoted as saying that incumbent Peter Kinder, a Republican, is not acceptable because of his support of Amendment 2 in 2006 which protects all forms of embryonic stem cell research allowed under federal law.

Right to Life also has apparently decided to endorse both Republicans: U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof and state Treasurer Sarah Steelman.

That’s too bad for Kinder. Maybe he can find other right-wing extremist groups to endorse him instead. Has Timothy McVeigh’s old gang endorsed anyone yet?

MO right to life is going to have a difficult time endorsing any candidate who has served in the General Assembly over the last four years. Only a small handful has consistently stuck with them on their position regarding the MO budget and stem cell research.

I think politically they should have stuck to the abortion issue and formed a separate group to fight the stem cell issue. They have lost power both politically and within their group by tackling this issue.

MRL has lost all credibility and should be see for what they are. They are nothing more than a Democratic front group. Stick to the life issue and get real. There needs to be another group started that actually supports pro-life issues instead of playing partisan politics. To criticize people like Peter Kinder who led the charge against partial birth abortion, has a perfect pro-life voting record . . . Geez. Candidate’s quit filling out your surveys for this worthless group. They will stab you in the back anyways.

Peter Kinder has been one of the most important leaders in the Pro-life movement. For goodness sakes, this is the man who wrote the law that bans Partial-birth abortion, and gave one of the most impassioned pleas on the floor of the senate I have ever seen. For MRL to do anything other than vigorously endorse him, is nothing but an act of political cowardice. Randall is right, MRL is going to lose all their credibility because of this.

Great job Right to Life. Throw all of the pro-life politicians under the bus so that you can elect Democrats that fill out your surveys correctly, and then vote like Ted Kennedy. You should thank God that abortion isn’t mandatory for stupid people or MRL wouldn’t exist.

Okay, so you all are mad at MRL for sticking to it’s convictions. As long as there is that big R behind the name, let’s all play the game so the politicians can call themselves conservative while women get coerced into abortions and embryos are killed in the name of science.

Kinder WALKED OUT, or refused to come in, during the committee vote to advance a ban on cloning 4 years ago. He loves Big Bio, Barklage consulted for Amendment 2, and MRL should cave in??? Get real!!!

we can elect repubs all we want to, but PRO-LIFE includes opposing clone and kill legislation and amendments.

Good on MRL!

That’s right Dave. The political class loves to court the endorsers. Once you help them get there, they get indignant when you rebuke them for ditching the one who brought them to the dance.

Kinder made his choice.
