Obama in town, GOP responds
Across the street from the Renaissance Grand, where Sen. Barack Obama was having a fundraiser yesterday, a number of local college students gathered to show their support for Sen. John McCain. Some organizers from the state GOP helped gather the crowd of about 20 or so.
They held signs, including ones that said, “Change we can’t afford.”
Tina Hervey, state Republican spokeswoman, was also there, thought not in an official capacity. Jack Jackson, a former MO state rep, also was there and spoke to reporters against Obama.
Check out some sights and sounds from the scene.
And to keep things balanced, our previous post and video from the Dems’ point of view is here.

Truedem,
By ’sheets’ you are refering to the same ones that Robert Byrd (D-WV) wore when he was younger?
BTW, this is the Adam from 4:09, just letting you know that I am definitely not the same Adam who commented at 8:24 (or the reporter). I guess you’ll be able to tell the difference by seeing if the comments sound like they are directly from Free Republic and completely off topic. If so, they are the 8:24 Adam.

Is that so, truedem? On what do you base this assertion? Perhaps the members of your SDS reading group did a study?

Funny, I’ve been a delegate to one national and several state Republican conventions, as well as an active member of a variety of campaigns over the years, and have never heard one racism comment.

The only person in this election who has any association with racism is the Democratic nominee. His grandmother is a “typical white woman.” His pastor of twenty years is a flaming bigot. His racially biased appeal has driven away the white working class voters he’ll need a few months from now, while drawing upwards of 95% of black voters. Meanwhile, I didn’t hear one word about race in the Republican primary.
Nick:
You say:
>Funny, I’ve been a delegate to one national and several state Republican >conventions, as well as an active member of a variety of campaigns over >the years, and have never heard one racism comment.
You certainly can’t be as off based as you sound. You do realize that racism is in ones heart this express itself against Black people or other minorities. Most do have enough sense to keep from speaking racist in public. When you are able to turn Black, then you can come back and tell us accurately if there is racism at those Republican conventions.
More realistic yet, why don’t you date a Black woman or even just pretend that you are for a while then report back to us if you experienced any racism.
It’s funny the vast popularity of Ronald Reagan didn’t bring out the whining in the repub boys. This Obamamessiah stuff they have parroted amongst themselves show they still find a black man (they forget his white mamma) who succeeds threatening. And what they are REALLY saying is that they feel themselves superior to the many folks who find Obama’s intelligence and policies appealing. If you have noticed, they can’t argue issues, just make up cutesy little names for Obama.
What these white repub boys don’t understand is that to walk into a room with a pale face and a d- -k, small or large, keeps you from seeing prejudices because you don’t experience any. Now after 100s of years of denying women and folks of color, or the “wrong” religion their rights, you are whining after only a decade or so of decent treatments towards these folks. If we picked apart YOUR activities with as much anal intenisty as you do theirs, none of you would have “passed the test”. Really, the test which you have no right to give. Yet you keep passing out the papers for some white boy on high to grade.
