Obama, others to court supporters at PrideFest
This weekend’s PrideFest is more than a celebration of the city’s growing LGBT community — it’s a chance to court an important voting bloc.
Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama — who has made a special effort to reach out to gay and transgendered supporters — will be headlining the crop of candidates who are expected to have a float in the parade near Tower Grove Park.
State Sen. Jeff Smith, Attorney General hopeful Jeff Harris, Alderman Kacie Starr Triplett have also passed along that they plan to be there. Fellow alderman Jennifer Florida and Stephen Conway, who represent the area, are expected to attend, as well. Mayor Francis Slay, who has siblings who are gay, is a staple at the annual event.
The parade has always had a political subtext, but expect it to be even thicker this year, with California’s decision on gay marriage and the race for the White House.

Dont forget about the TraditionalFamilyFest going on every night in my own, heavily armed home…
