The presidential tug of war over Missouri continues, with presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama returning to the state on Monday.

He’s to be in Independence, hometown of favorite son and former President Harry S Truman.

In fact, the morning campaign event will be at the Truman Memorial Building. No more public details are available, other than doors open to the public at 9 a.m.

Free tickets are required, the campaign says, and are available at Obama’s campaign Web site.

The visit comes less than three weeks after he was in St. Louis, and less than two weeks after his Republican rival — Sen. John McCain — was in Missouri.

UPDATE:

BY THE WAY, rumor has it — from a reliable source — that McCain will be back in Missouri, and possibly in the St. Louis area, VERY soon!!!

The two exclamation points are not intended as praise, but to signal surprise, because Obama was just in the state less than three weeks ago.

And it’s only June!!

If McCain shows up in another week or two, I promise I’ll do the same. Two exclamation marks!! Trust me!

And as readers should note, I have ANOTHER more lengthy post on this site about McCain’s stronger ad campaign!!! (Three exclamation marks. Please note!!!)

We’ve got four months to go. I’m trying to display a bit of humor. By late October, we’ll all need it.

That’s for sure!!!! (Four exclamation points)

It would seem that many of these right-wing trolls are the same pinheads who helped spread the false “Obama is a Muslim” internet smear. BTW, that mean old liberal Washington Post has a fascinating article about the brain-dead cowards on the right who started that lie:

Might I suggest these wingnut bottom-feeders go back to keeping Metrolink out of St. Chas. County, or any of the other racist nonsense they revel in, and leave normal Americans alone. Face it guys–you’re nothing but a bunch of isolated extremists whose base is shrinking faster than the value of W’s U.S. dollar.

Ms Mannies -
Those who are concerned about the number of exclamation points in your “headline” obviously lead pointless lives. :)

Okay okay. This has gotten out of hand.

Jo, just promise that you’ll use at least five exclamation points when McCain dies. Fair enough?

You are seeing the true face of the extremists left in Wardog. His hate filled, mindless assaults make a mockery out of what could be legitimate points; if he knew how to articulate them in a comprehensible manner.
What does the metrolink and Saint Charles have to do with this conversation? I ride the metrolink and metrobus almost every day and I live in the city, so by Wardog’s definition, I’ve reached the height of enlightenment. Also, since Wardog is such a good judge of where people live and how they think, I’ll offer him the advice to move out of his parent’s house or the college dorm, get a job, pay taxes, raise a family, and think for himself instead of listening only to his college professors. He should lay off the Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky too.
Also, when someone knows that they are correct, they’re usually much more gracious. Why so angry?

Yes…I know this has devolved into something completely unrelated to the original topic. I’m sure Wardog will post one more foolish response but I’m done.

Let’s see if this post with a link to John McCain’s website gets removed again.

It’s interesting to see that the Post is including high school reporters like Jo Mannies, but please try to be more professional if you expect educated people to trust the Post as a reliable source of political coverage. You’re covering a presidential campaign, not a student council election.

First off, Tuefelhunden, Truman was reportedly told the Japanese were going to surrender without the bombs being dropped, so it’s questionable whether he really needed to drop them. As for Korea, there was no threat to us. And by the way, they’re not Communists. Communism is an ideal. Ideals are never reached — that’s why they’re ideals. Therefore, there have never been commmunists.

There’s a point that needs to be made about Metrolink. There was a propaganda campaign to keep Metrolink out of St. Charles in favor of the Page extension. And once again, the crowd let its imagination (in this case racial) be led by the nose. Much more money could be made off the extension with commercial growth around the right-of-way, rather than Metrolink. So the vested interests made sure it happened, despite studies showing that such extensions only thinned out traffic for the first decade. After that, you’re right back to where you started — if not having more vehicles on the road. Metrolink would have taken cars ‘off’ the highway. Boy, don’t those people in St. Chuck County feel stupid now, paying $4 a gallon to make their business jaunts into the city.
