Obama to hold 160 “Unite for Change” parties in Missouri
On Saturday, the campaign for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is launching its organizing efforts in Missouri “with 160 Unite for Change house parties across the state.
“The events will bring together voters who supported Democratic candidates in the primary, but also independents and Republicans who are ready to turn the page on the failed policies of the past and commit to taking action this year,” the campaign said in a release.
The Missouri parties are among more than 4,000 slated to held Saturday nationwide.
Said Obama in a statement:
“One of the benefits of the long primary season is that we had an opportunity to campaign in every part of the country. And in all 50 states, people helped build an unprecedented grassroots organization that continues to grow to this day.
“This enthusiasm is about something bigger than any one candidate. It’s about our shared desire to change the way Washington does business. We are ready to move beyond the failed policies of George W. Bush and come together around common values that will lead us to a better future for all Americans. Through Unite for Change house meetings, friends and neighbors of various backgrounds will come together to organize and grow our grassroots movement for change.”

Dont come to my traditional household and throw one of your “Change” parties, Senator! We just happen to love our guns concealed, our taxes inappropriately low, our gays unmarried, and our occupations 100 years long. Keep talking circles Obama….

Would someone please tell me what the “changes” are? Does anyone want to explain what Obama stands for? Has anyone checked his voting record in Congress? He didn’t vote, in case you wanted to know. When checking voting records of our U.S. Senators, his vote was always “Present”, meaning he didn’t take a stand on anything.
The Democrats have been in power of both the House and Senate for two years. Gas prices have doubled and they have done nothing. They refuse to bring to a vote the drilling in the U.S. Why? Perhaps their only platform is to blame George Bush for their own failed policies of answering to the people and having a rock star fascination for a man who stands for absolutely nothing!!!
Mr. Obama, if you want change, tell us what it is. Not all of us follow like sheep. Do you want to be the same kind of President as Senator? No vote; no opinion; no direction; no comment; no experience; no show? Or are your 160 stops in Missouri going to consist of your followers getting a chance to see you in person but asking no questions about where you will lead this country? I’m afraid you will make “changes” alright! Higher taxes, government controlled healthcare that will dictate who gets care and who doesn’t, punishing those who create business opportunities and expecting those of us who work hard to hand it over to those who don’t; pandering to environmental special interest groups who want to choke off the economic status of our country………. answer our questions, Mr. Obama. What changes are you talking about, or don’t you want us to know? All you have shown us so far is your scripted monologue with no direction or substance. Those who blindly follow you wanting “change” are going to get it alright! I wonder if they will like it when it’s too late!!
I’d like to see how Obama’s proposed “policies” of raising our taxes, having no feasible plan to address the energy crises, and his dangerous position on partial birth abortion are going to do us any good. Since Missouri is the “Show-Me State,” I’d like Obama to “Show-Me.” Instead of these so-called “house parties,” as Missourians let’s make him go head-to-head with a non-scripted debate with John McCain, and then we’ll see who has the potential to be our nation’s next leader.
With all do respect to Obama and his message we have the opurtunity to elect a great man and hero John McCain President. I think Obama will get his turn but let’s jump on the Straight Talk Express to victory.

went to two of them; the locations finally got up Saturday morning? problems with website (said it was down Friday night; that’s not impressive).
Kirkwood one very professional and excellent.
the nice woman in chesterfield who hosted one, Obama campaign seems to have hung out to dry; dont know the details why, but they promised her someone would get in touch with her to help her (Kirkwood one had what seemed like a staff organizer there, very knowledgable and nice, tho sort of talky); they didnt, now gave her the dvd all parties were supposed to watch; it was smaller but that’s no excuse; are you listening Obama people? if you want to play with the big dogs you have to be able to tinkle in the tall grass; usually you are good tinklers, but seems you may have dropped some balls on this one; dont want to do that too often, do we? I need you strong at the top of my ticket! Ask Jay Nixon for help if you need to; he’s a playa! He’s tough! and funny, too; you wouldnt expect that; same semi-canned speech, but it’s a good one; he is very driven, and we Dems need that; very impressive; I was on schoolboard when he dealt with us in trying to settle the deseg case, so not a big fan from those days; that seems to be the source of his problems with people of color, as well; but we need him strong at top of ticket, so all should rally round. Going to make a great governor too; he might be no Bob Holden, but after Blunt anyone will look great, especially a good Democrat.
