The Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District, issued a 3-0 decision today that, in effect, prevents state Rep. Connie Johnson from resuming her ill-fated bid for the 5th District state Senate seat.

The court ruled in favor of another 5th District candidate, state Rep. Robin Wright-Jones, who had challenged Johnson’s residency.

The Post-Dispatch’s own Jake Wagman reported some weeks back that Johnson appeared to not live within the state Senate district. Under Missouri law, that makes her ineligible to run.

In the initial court phase, a lower-court judge also had ruled against Johnson.

Also competing in the 5th is another Democrat, state Rep. Rodney Hubbard.

Here’s the appeals court’s ruling.

What a ridiculous and audacious waste of time for Ms. Johnson. Her aides should have explained to her what the meaning of residence was.

Rules schmools right?
