Under the category of “political operatives have too much time on their hands”: Some opponent of state Treasurer Sarah Steelman, who is running for governor, created a YouTube video to parody Steelman’s problems with an employee who was doing double time working for the state and her campaign. (See my most recent story on the subject here.)
I wish that I could look at a website covering the Governor’s race and not see that clip of Mrs. Steelman defending her campaign’s shady dealings. I know she must be a much better orator than what these videos depict her as, but every time I see this one I just cringe.

You’re right. Chad’s a fine reporter. But in answer to your questions, yes I spoke to Susan Montee and yes I read the full audit. In fact, it’s my interview with Montee that pointed out there were two sets of time sheets. That’s clear in my story.

A real “investigative reporter”, Chad Livengood, at the Springfield News-Leader took the time to investigate. He asked Montee if Gaston broke the law or owes any money to the state and the answer was “NO”.

It figures you would keep trying to sell the phony story. Why don’t you tell the real story?
Fact: Jay Nixon has had to reimburse the state over $50,000!
Fact: Under federal law Hulshof is supposed to have his pay docked when he misses a day for reasons other than sickness.
Fact: Kenny Hulshof plays by his own rules. He presents hearsay evidence and hides exculpatory evidence.
Hulshof is “vacationing” (working on his campaign) while he is being paid to be in D.C.; on the taxpayers dollar. Hulshof claims that he is the one making “a sacrifice”. The taxpayers are the one paying for Kenny’s time while he campaigns.
How much does Kenny Hulshof owe? Go ahead; calculate it.
How many innocent men and women are in prison because they don’t have the money to appeal after Hulshof prevented them from getting a fair trial?
Bottom line, Sarah Steelman is the only one who doesn’t owe money to the state or federal government!
