Superdelegate Medley: Still stuck in neutral
Missouri superdelegate Leila Medley showed up for the reception in St. Louis this week for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. She wanted to hear what he had to say.
But that doesn’t mean she’s ready to endorse him.
Medley, an official with the Missouri NEA, has been officially neutral from the get-go when it came to Democrats running for president. She did begin to lean in the final weeks to a certain Democrat who is no longer in the race, but she didn’t endorse anyone.
Medley, 71, said that she’s a staunch Democrat and that there’s no chance she’ll vote for anyone other than a Democrat.
But as a superdelegate to the presidential convention in August, she’s remaining on the fence for the moment, and not ready to endorse Obama.
Medley said she recognized that was an unpopular position within the state or national party. National party chairman Howard Dean has been encouraging all unaligned superdelegates for weeks — but especially since the primaries ended on June 3 — to take a stand and back a presidential candidate.
Most of Missouri’s remaining neutral supers, including Attorney General Jay Nixon and state party chairman John Temporiti, endorsed Obama as soon as he crossed the delegate threshhold.
But Medley said she’s still remaining neutral for now.

idiot, old dems never know how to fade away and let brighter and more active dems step in.
